As a multidisciplinary artist, I believe that strong digital work is rooted in traditional mastery. This course combines the tactile logic of oil painting and watercolors with the power of Photoshop and digital design. We begin with the core fundamentals, anatomy, still life, and composition before transitioning those skills into the digital space. You will learn to control digital brushes, build convincing lighting, and apply color with intention. We move beyond simple tutorials to tackle character design, surreal environments, and professional workflows. By the end of this course, you will have a body of polished, original work and a deep understanding of the design fundamentals that make an image successful in any medium. you’ll produce portfolio-ready artworks and understand a professional workflow from sketch to finish. Each session combines hands-on exercises with discussion of artistic choices, so you strengthen both technical skill and creative judgment. This course is for beginners and intermediate artists who want to go beyond tutorials and actually build a body of polished, original work.

ABOUT THE CLASS: Do you have a character in your head, a story you’ve been thinking about, or simply an urge to draw and wonder what might happen if you turned it into a comic? In this class, we’ll explore how to develop your ideas into sequential form. We’ll work on drawing skills, character development, composition, page layouts, pacing, and the relationship between images and text. We’ll also look at inspiring examples from comics, graphic novels, and art history. Depending on your interests, we might create a short comic, develop a character or story, or begin working towards a longer project. You don’t need to have a finished story, or even know exactly what you want to make. We can start small, experiment with ideas, and build towards a larger project. There are no specific requirements regarding materials. We can work with pencil and paper, ink, color, or digital tools. If you would like to work digitally, you will need to bring your own laptop and software; there are many excellent open-source and inexpensive options available. ABOUT ME: I am a lifelong comics lover, as well as an artist, architect, and published comic book author. My background in architecture helps me create convincing worlds, environments, and backgrounds, while my professional experience in animation has given me a good understanding of timing and pace. Personal Portfolio Class: If you are considering applying for art school or design school, you might want to prepare yourself and build a convincing portfolio, perhaps improve your presentation skill or even some confidence boost for interviews. We will first explore what talents you already have and those you will want/need to have, the goal is to help you develop your creativity and curiosity as well as your artistic skills and most importantly find out your inner talent for a direction that will suit you, whether in education or self-development. And we will do a live rehearsal for your interview for the best presentation result and confidence boost. Overall, It'll help you cultivate the soft and hard skills you need to be more confident setting and resetting expectations, strengthening relationships, and taking your projects across the finish line without any cold sweat. For teenagers: are highly encouraged to experiment with different materials and techniques and preferably through themes - selected by me or the student's likings as well. We will also look at specific Artists and Painters, as well as specific Art History periods, and the kids will then be encouraged to play around and recreate their own version of the Artist or period. Needless to say that class do not necessarily mean free-time activity, the academic material is intentionally or not(unconsciously) always a present element of my instructive performance. Therefore, the game becomes a teaching/learning relation, whilst teaching and learning turn into a recreational joyful moment for all participants.

Hello, I am Marcela a multidisciplinary artist with BA in Visual Arts, Faculty of Fine Arts - University of Queretaro, Mexico. I have also done an exchange of 6 months to learn about sophisticated art methods at the Faculty of Fine Arts - University of Granada, Spain. Additionally, to deepen my skills, I took two courses on drawing and painting at Crea, Amsterdam. In this course I will teach the basis of drawing and painting. Regarding drawing, I will teach the principles of sketching, moving forward to the specifics of light and shadow. During the drawing classes, you will also learn about different techniques, such as pastels, charcoal, and graphite. With respect to painting, you will learn about theory of colour, how to design a colour palette, and how to apply it. Next, you will learn about the specificities of materials, such as acrylics, watercolour and oils. You will then be able to experiment with these materials, and at the end create your own artwork based on your preferences.
