Good morning all! My name is Imane and I am from Italy, I did all my primary and secondary education in Brescia and I am in Brussels to continue my university studies. I give Italian lessons for beginners, intermediate and advanced levels. I also offer the possibility of taking conversation classes, in order to improve the oral part. I speak four languages and have a very practical approach with languages. Among the subjects covered in my courses: grammar, vocabulary, conjugation of verbs, text analysis, writing texts, specific technical language, reading and conversation. Assessment forms will be given at the end of each unit to verify the skills acquired.

Speaking is the most important thing to practice a language but sometimes, for some reason, they prefer teaching us only how to write and read. We'll practice the grammar and the skills that you're learning with a different approach: YOU will be the one speaking the most and I will help you to do it correctly.

As an Italian Opera singer, I help since many years singers with the right pronunciation of the repertoire they sing, helping them in shaping the language in a clear way, which also helps the singing. Our lesson will involve speaking, pronunciation exercises and singing. We will start the lesson by reading the text and finding the right direction and emphasis. We will focus on the sounds and how to produce them. In the second part of the lesson, we will apply all of the above to the singing!

In this course, you will learn a range of linguistic methods and learn the terms used for describing a specific aspect of language or phenomenon (lexis, morphemes, and 'telegraphic stage' to give a few examples). The course requires you to explore your own data using quantitative and qualitative analysis (eg: how frequently are slang phrases used? Are there new auxiliaries being created?). No historical linguistics or literature is involved, but language change or specific traits will be sampled via your own data collection (if this is what is demanded in your course). As many students need to present a "year abroad" dissertation at University level (3rd year in the UK of a Modern Languages or Linguistics Undergraduate course) I can help you to research and structure your year abroad work, both in English (Linguistics) and Romance languages (French, Italian, Spanish). The topics that have arisen from recent discussions with students relate to French Caribbean writing, Italian resistance and reprisals in Rome (Fosse Ardiatine), and Spanish Etica franquista in films (among others).
