Are you dreaming of creating your own games, animations or interactive stories? This course aims to enagage learners regardless of their programming experience. The course for beginners starts with a description of the interface and how you can import or create various backgrounds or objects. An introduction to basic command blocks follows, and as the course progresses, learners are given many opportunities to be creative, practise analytical and critical thinking, and combine various command blocks to add functionality to their programs. The course also aims to foster effective communication, as learners have the opportunity to share their creations on Scratch community, receive feedback and exchange ideas with other members. This course is intended for teachers who want to use Scratch in the classroom.

In this course you will learn the basics to create your first IT projects from start to finish, from front-end to back-end. Each concept will be covered step by step. We'll begin with an introduction and an overview of computer science to first deconstruct any limiting beliefs you may have about it. This will include an introduction to Python, then HTML, then CSS, then Java, then React, and finally SQL. Depending on your age, the course will be adapted to cover concepts that are relatively simple for your brain to grasp. If you are a complete beginner or young, we will start with creating Python scripts, then building a calculator, and so on. We can also touch on concepts such as AI if you wish. Learn to Vibe Code, understand how different models work, or learn how to create AI agents.

The book “Delftse Foundations of Computation” especially its second chapter will be the main source of our lesson, but other more in-depth books will be also covered if you want to improve even further on logical thinking. AI is not a movie robot: Difference between fiction and reality. How it works (simply): The image of the "giant library": AI has read billions of books and uses them to predict the continuation of a sentence or create an image. Where is it already present? Spell checkers, Netflix/YouTube suggestions, GPS, and voice assistants (Siri/Alexa). 2: Using AI to make life easier Conversing with AI (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini): Ask him to write an administrative email or a complex letter. Summarize a long newspaper article or document. Plan a travel itinerary or find recipe ideas with what's left in the fridge. AI for creativity and memory: Generate images to illustrate a birthday card (Midjourney, DALL-E). Privacy protection: Never give sensitive data (social security number, passwords, bank details) to an AI. Knowing that everything we write to the AI is potentially used to train it. Spotting "Deepfakes": How to recognize a doctored image or video (details on the hands, strange reflections, slightly metallic voice).
