The ukulele lessons are suitable for beginners. It is taught in a casual and relaxed manner, with a lot of personal attention and a good lesson structure. You will soon be able to accompany a song. You learn to play and sing chords, different beats, strumming patterns, simple melodies and some basic knowledge of music theory. We do not work with musical notation, but with tablature. That is a simple alternative. There is also a lot of room to learn what you like yourself. Be sure to bring the songs you want to learn to play.

Start with an introductory lesson to see if you like it and to discuss what you want to learn. You can borrow a ukulele if you don't already have one.

About Me
My name is Brigitte, the founder of B Ukeful. Music plays an important role in my life. I like to listen to it, go to concerts and play guitar and ukulele. I started playing the guitar when I was twelve years old. I only discovered the ukulele at a much later age. A whole new world opened up for me and I fell completely in love with this cheerful and versatile instrument. I went to follow workshops, visited festivals and joined My Clog has fleas, a ukulele club in Delft. In Zoetermeer I started with another ukulele fanatic, the Sweet Lake Ukes. A group of ukulele players who play together once every two weeks.
One thing led to another. At one point I also started performing at residential care centers and giving workshops.
Because of my enthusiasm, I also infected others with the ukulele virus and was asked if I wanted to teach. I started doing this since 2019. First to a group of participants as a daytime activity. Not much later also with private lessons.

The ukulele really took hold of me. The instrument connects, brings you into the here and now and it makes you happy and relaxed. That is what I wish everyone. I therefore hope that as many people as possible will embrace the ukulele and become as "Ukeful" as I am.

Maybe see you soon at my lessons, workshops or performances! Do not hesitate to contact me if you want to know something.
Education
I have had guitar lessons for a number of years and followed many ukulele workshops. But above all, I learned a lot by practicing often and playing together with others.
Experience / Qualifications
Lots of experience playing guitar and ukulele. I play in a band and regularly perform with the ukulele. I have been teaching ukulele and workshops since 2019.

Big music from small instruments!

Mandolin and Ukulele have been increasingly popular in the past 10 years. Nevertheless, these two instruments are rarely used to their full potential. Have you ever thought that you could become truly proficient on one of these instruments, play across many different styles, and be as versatile as a violinist or guitarist?

Aside from learning the basics, I will show alternative tunings that can provide greater sonic possibilities and an extended range, I will help you develop more comfortable positions for your hand, richer voicings, and clear visual maps of chords, scales, and harmonic movement. I will help you rethink the mandolin and ukulele as complete and professional instruments and show you how to play them across a broad variety of styles such as Folk, Blues, Pop, Rock, and Jazz. [According to the style and instrumental possibilities - electro-acoustic instruments - we can also work with loops and effects.]

This class is meant to guide you from your very first steps on the instrument towards greater musical understanding and autonomy. Designed for both beginners and advanced musicians who want to challenge themselves and broaden their perspective on music and the instrument.

The lessons will be custom made for each student. I will adapt to your learning rhythm while keeping you challenged at the same time. You will receive regular feedback, advice, guidance, and materials.

I welcome students of all ages, from young beginners to adults who want to expand their musical horizons. My teaching philosophy is rooted in building a strong foundation in classical guitar, with special attention to correct posture and technique for younger learners. I believe that early development of good habits sets the stage for a lifetime of healthy playing.

Each student’s learning style and goals are unique, and my lessons reflect that. For adults or more experienced students, I offer flexible lesson plans tailored to your individual interests—whether it’s mastering classical repertoire, improving technique, or exploring other genres. My aim is to make each lesson engaging, enjoyable, and directly aligned with what you hope to achieve.

For those interested in formal qualifications, I offer preparation for music grade exams through internationally recognised boards such as Trinity College London, ABRSM (Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music), and the International School of Musicians. These exams are excellent milestones for students looking to build confidence, set goals, and track their progress in a structured way.

Let’s work together to unlock your potential and find the joy in making music!

Dutch can seem complicated. But it doesn't have to be. I simplify learning it. No jargon, no thick grammar books, no obscure explanations. Just clear language, a logical approach, and understandable examples.

Whether you're struggling with the -dt rule, having trouble writing, or want to learn the language from scratch, I offer a simple method. Not because it's easy, but because the method is simply effective.

Dutch:

Hello! I am Patricia, double bass, electric bass and baby bass player from Spain and live in Vlaardingen (Netherlands).

I have studied up to Dutch A2 level, so I can have basic conversations and teach Dutch at a basic level. We can also have lessons in English, Spanish or Catalan.

I studied the bachelor's degree at the jazz department in Codarts and also the master's degree in Codarts (but in the Latin department). In addition, I took an extra course during my bachelor studies to learn lessons (I have an official certificate).

I have a lot of experience playing all over the world with many different bands and orchestras, such as in the Netherlands, Spain, Belgium, Germany, Austria, Colombia and Mexico with electric bass, double bass and Baby bass (electric double bass).

As a music teacher, I have 4 years of experience teaching children, teenagers and adults of different levels.

As a bass teacher, I always tailor my lessons to the student from day one, asking about your music preferences and which tunes you want to play. Music theory if you want to improve as a musician, but I also understand that it can be boring, that's why from the first lesson you will learn theory while playing your favorite songs. I will adjust the program for you.

I can also give you tips about bass amplifiers, music software, etc., because I also studied sound engineering and worked as a sound engineer for many years.

The most important thing for me as a teacher is that you learn and at the same time have fun playing your instrument and improve yourself as a musician!

Feeling good with your body and listening to it, understanding where the sound comes from and how to produce it, learning the basics and how to read the notes and the score, learning tricks and daily exercises without the instrument to help you develop your agility and muscles, playing together duets to get closer to the chamber music world and to learn how to listen and collaborate with others. I think it's important to listen also to the student's requests and desires; if you have a tune or a piece that you would love to play we can work on it together.

Folk music is also an interesting way through which we can get closer to the instrument and the music world, playing traditional dances from different countries and discovering different music languages.

As every person has his own physiognomy and musculature, we will try to find together a correct and comfortable posture that better suits the student to create a connection with the instrument. Warming-up and taking care of our body is part of a musician's life (beginner, amateur or professional) and it is important to prevent injuries and muscle pain. Unfortunately this aspect is not often taken into account and for this reason I aim to transmit this value to my students.

Not everyone has mastered the right learning method. That's why I first work with the student to determine what's causing them to struggle with math. Once that's been done, I'll help the student figure out how best to approach it. Then, I explain using the material provided by the school, paying particular attention to the material the student finds difficult. Practice is crucial in this subject, and we'll do plenty of that in addition to clarifying the theory.

If I receive the material in advance, I always prepare my tutoring sessions. This way, I can optimally assist the student to ensure high-quality tutoring.

I'll also make it clear upfront that there are no stupid questions with me. I'll always be understanding if you're having trouble or perhaps don't have something from previous years handy. There's always a reason why you're requesting tutoring, and I'll always support you through any difficulties.
