"Tom has been tutoring my daughter Emma (8) on saxophone for about 6 months and the progress Emma has made is unbelievable. Tom is very friendly, plays the saxophone exceptionally and his lessons are always fun. It is hard to find the right tutor, especially when it comes to music, but Tom is amazing at what he does and Emma always looks forward to her saxophone lessons. I would recommend Tom to anyone who wishes to learn to play the saxophone in a fun and engaging way." - Eva
"10 out of 10. Tom is simply - Excellent. We were so lucky to find Tom and even luckier that he had the time in his schedule to accommodate our son with a weekly lesson. We believe Tom was instrumental in our son attaining successful music college applications - but even more importantly - his lovely, easy understated, non-intimidating rapport with our son is why we give him a 10 out of 10! He offers efficient structured lessons and is very encouraging. Of course Tom’s music theory and knowledge is exceptional...to have the guidance of a Royal Academy of Music Scholarship recipient has been nothing short of a privilege for son! Our son would like to keep carrying on with Tom until he gets to his next step - in order to keep his playing at the ready." - Janis
"My lessons with Tom have been a fantastic propellant for developments in terms of my technical facility, musicianship and developing a unique voice. Having the privilege of guidance from a master musician like Tom has allowed me to develop further and accomplish more than I could've hoped. Tom listens and clearly explains every concept and exercise with clarity, he cares about getting the most out of the lesson time which means you come away with plenty of material to work on. And as an extra bonus it's always a pleasure to hear him play his saxophone." - Marko

About Me
Hello,
I am a First Class BMus Degree graduate of the Royal Academy of Music. I am currently looking for students of any age and standard that have a desire to learn in an enjoyable, tailored and inspired way! I am currently doing most of my teaching online but I am open to travelling as things open up.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach the Saxophone, Clarinet, Improvisation and jazz composition on any instrument.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
I have a First Class Hons Degree in Jazz Performance from the Royal Academy of Music.
I have a Licentiate of the Royal Academy of Music qualification which is a separate teaching qualification through the Royal Academy which focuses on 1-1 and group teaching.
I am the winner of the 2017 Kenny Wheeler Prize in association with Edition Records.
I am also a free-lance jazz and session musician. Previous work includes the BBC Proms at the Royal Albert Hall, Buckingham Palace, Live television broadcasts such as Blue Peter (Tom Fletcher appearance), Ronnie Scott's, The soundtrack to Lego Marvel Superheroes 2 and DC Villains console games.
I achieved my grade 8 distinction in Saxophone back in 2010
- Where do you teach?
I currently do all my teaching from home over Skype or Zoom but as things start opening up I'd be happy to travel to your home for the added cost of travel
- When are you available?
I am currently available on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursday's and Friday's.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach students of all ages and standards on the Clarinet and Saxophone.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
This really depends on the student but ABRSM graded exams can work well to motivate a younger pupil to want to play their instrument. I have also prepared young adults for their Conservatoire audition. I am also open to preparing students for any other music-related qualifications that they wish to partake in.
- Do you have a personal message for students?
Please don't hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions! I am reliable and determined to get the best of out my students whilst attempting to inspire them in a comfortable, fun environment :)
Thanks!
Tom
