Learning American History Doesn't Have to Be Boring!
From 83 C$ /h
I am a teacher with 10 years experience teaching social studies and specializing in American history. My goal is to help students understand the fundamental underpinnings of our country and to learn by discussion, questioning, and conversation, rather than memorizing names and dates.
I will assign a video to watch at the end of every lesson. You should be prepared to discuss it for our next meeting.

About Me
"History is boring." "It's so boring." "Ugh." "Why do I need to learn this?"
These quotes are so unfortunate, because it's just not true. I tell my students, "social studies is everything, because everything is social studies." We engage in discussions about current events, connecting what's happening now with what happened in the past. We question the narratives that had been taught to us in elementary school and are still taught to us through the media. Most importantly, we have fun doing it. We watch videos and share our impressions. We engage with texts and decipher just what the heck these (mostly) old, white men were saying (although Thomas Jefferson was only 32 when he wrote the Declaration of Independence!)
I believe that if something isn't engaging, it's not worth doing. It's why I make my classes interesting, so history isn't just something worth learning, it's something to become a part of.

This class is for all levels of spoken and written English. The focus is to learn how to speak and write like a native speaker. Languages separate us, but learning languages brings us together! Whether you are a beginner or almost fluent, come learn English with me and we'll make progress together.
I love languages and the connections they allow us to make with each other. When we share our time with one another, expect to progress in your English through cultural exchange, laughter, and fun. :)
