About Me

Welcome. I’d like to tell a bit about me and explain what I offer.

I’m British and based in the Netherlands. I have a background in teaching general, business, professional and legal English to many learners in the Nederlands. Through the day I work through some very respect business English institutions and I also still practise my old law career.

I am able to offer business, professional and legal English courses to all levels of speakers, online, at various times of the day including weekends and evenings.

Lessons are available at a significant discount to what you would pay if going through an institution. Obviously, I don’t have all the overheads so I am able to do this.

Lessons are pragmatic and tailored to your needs, be it written or spoken English, meetings, presentations, reports, etc. maybe you are just a little rusty and want some no-pressure practise.

In the first lesson we will assess your training needs together and agree a training plan. I recommend a bare minimum of 14 hours, but believe 20 hours is optimum to see a
real improvement.

My methodology: Learning to structure one's thoughts to express oneself better
My approach is based on a simple observation: success is not achieved through lack of effort, but often through a lack of method and confidence. My role is to transform subjects sometimes perceived as abstract (Philosophy, French) or intimidating (English) into concrete tools for success.

The typical course of a session:
1. Quick diagnosis: We start by identifying the areas of uncertainty from the previous lesson or the difficulties with a specific exercise.
2. Taking action: No boring lectures! We work on concrete exercises, essay plans or oral practice (in English) to "learn by doing".
3. The "Montreal Method": Having worked for two and a half years in Quebec, I use a North American pedagogy that is very focused on encouragement, clear structure and student autonomy.
4. Summary & Objectives: We end each session with a recap of the key points so that the student knows exactly what to revise.

What makes the difference: As a philosophy student, I don't just teach authors; I teach the methodology that allows students to think for themselves about major philosophical concepts.
