Korean Lessons for All Levels — Taught by an Experienced Native Speaker with 7+ Years of Teaching Experience
From 58 C$ /h
Hi, I'm Heewon from South Korea, currently living in the Netherlands.
I've been teaching Korean for over 7 years, to students ranging from 7-year-old kids to learners in their 50s, and from over a dozen different countries across Europe, the US, Asia, and the Middle East. My students' goals have been just as diverse that some simply want a fun hobby, while others are preparing for exchange programs, the TOPIK exam, or even university admission in Korea.
Teaching this many different people has taught me a lot too. I've come to understand where students commonly struggle depending on linguistic background, and how to adjust my approach accordingly.
I genuinely love this job. Helping a student reach their goal, or simply being able to have a real conversation with them in my native language, gives me a lot of joy and pride that's hard to describe unless you've experienced it. I also love sharing Korean culture with people from such different backgrounds which is one of my favorite parts of teaching.
You can check lesson details.
- Lessons built on my own grammar, vocabulary, and expression materials developed over 7+ years, no boring textbooks
- Once the basic tenses are covered, we shift into free conversation in Korean, where you'll naturally pick up real slang and expressions native speakers actually use
- I use authentic Korean media that variety shows, dramas, and movies to keep lessons engaging and relevant
- Lessons are tailored to each student's level and goals, whether that's a hobby, exchange student prep, TOPIK, or university admission
- Years of teaching students from many different countries have given me a strong sense of how cultural background affects the way people learn Korean

Hi, I'm Heewon from South Korea. I'm a graduate of the HKU Conservatory's Jazz & Pop department, majoring in jazz piano, though alongside that, I've continued studying classical piano, as well as composition and arranging.
For over 6 years, I've taught students ranging from young children (6 to 7 years old) to adults in their 50s and beyond, covering genres from jazz and pop to classical and new age, along with music theory. I've also performed extensively in both South Korea and the Netherlands, at festivals, jazz bars, and government related events, playing not only jazz standards but my own arrangements and original compositions.
I believe music is something we simply can't live without today. It surrounds us everywhere we go, woven into daily life. That's exactly why piano makes such a wonderful hobby: it's approachable, deeply rewarding, and a great way to relieve stress. How amazing is it to be able to play the music that lives in your head?
My lessons are open to all skill levels and are held in English or basic Dutch. Before we begin, I always start with a consultation to understand what you want out of piano, your goals, interests, and preferred style, and build lessons and materials around that.
Tailor made lessons suited to your level and goals:
- For beginners, we'll cover basic piano technique, fundamental music theory, and sheet music reading.
- For intermediate and advanced students, lessons are shaped around your specific needs and wishes (for example improvisation, accompaniment, arranging, and more).
All learning materials and documents are prepared by me.
