🎭 Clay Modelling (Masks, Bas‐relief, Beginner‐friendly)

This module introduces students to clay modelling through simple, accessible projects suitable for beginners.
They learn how to shape clay to create:

Masks — expressive or symbolic faces inspired by imagination, culture, or personal identity.
Bas‐relief — low‐relief sculptural surfaces where forms emerge gently from a flat background.

The focus is on understanding basic sculpting techniques, working with terracotta, and developing manual dexterity while exploring creative expression.

“Bas‐relief” (in italiano bassorilievo) refers to a sculptural technique where the shapes are carved or modelled so they slightly protrude from a flat surface — perfect for beginners because it teaches volume, depth, and light without requiring full 3D sculpting.
“Masks” are ideal introductory projects because they combine anatomy, symbolism, and creativity, allowing students to explore identity and expression through clay.

🔍 Personal Research & Artistic Development
Students are guided to explore one or more techniques in depth, developing their own visual language and artistic voice through practice, observation, and experimentation.

About Me
I am a Fine Arts graduate with a Master’s Degree in painting, graphics, and video making. Born in Chivasso and trained between Turin and Valencia, I brings over six years of experience teaching art to students of all levels. My approach blends traditional techniques with contemporary media, encouraging personal expression through drawing, sculpture, and visual storytelling. My classes are open, exploratory, and rooted in the belief that every medium can become a voice.
Education
I was born in Chivasso, near Turin, in 1982, and I began painting when I was ten years old. My artistic education started at Primo Liceo Artistico in Turin, where I developed a strong foundation in visual arts. I continued my studies at the Accademia Albertina delle Belle Arti, specializing in painting, graphics, and video making. Later, I expanded my perspective through an international experience at the Politecnico de Valencia in Spain. I earned my Degree in Fine Arts in 2006, and my academic path has deeply shaped both my creative practice and my approach to teaching.
Experience / Qualifications
After completing my Master’s Degree in Fine Arts, I began teaching art and creative techniques to students of all ages. Over the past six years, I’ve led workshops and private lessons focused on drawing, painting, sculpture, and mixed media. I’ve participated in numerous art exhibitions, both in Italy and abroad, and collaborated with cultural associations and schools to develop inclusive, hands-on art programs. My teaching style is rooted in exploration, encouraging each student to discover their own visual language through experimentation and personal reflection.
