I base my teaching what the student wants to learn and also through years of teaching and learning I can help guide you on this path.

Techniques, phrase development, solo, accompaniment, odd rhythms and creation of your own sound.

We will cover traditional rhythms from Turkey, the Balkans, Egypt. I can teach darbuka and bendir from beginner to advanced level. Riq, indian tabla, konnakol, cajon, daf, indian tabla and percussion set ups can also be taught

A bit about me:
I have been playing oriental percussion professionally since 2010 with many groups and touring all over the world and I've recorded albums for groups such as Light in Babylon.

About Me

I am a multi percussionist from Scotland. I now live in France and work full time as a performing musician. I spent 6 years in Turkey and Egypt learning darbuka and oriental percussion. I also play and teach Drum Kit and Indian Tabla.

The bands I regularly play with include:

Education

I studied at Misirli Ahmets rhythm school. Beit-el-oud in Cairo and Agostini Drum School in Toulouse. I also completed a bachelors degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering

Experience / Qualifications

Every year I play around 60 - 100 concerts. I have performed in the USA, Mexico, Turkey, Egypt, Libya, India, all over Europe.

A graduate of Berklee College of Music in Boston, I offer Drums lessons (all ages) to beginners, intermediates and advanced.
Sharing music and dialogue with the student are essential for me: I adapt to the needs/desires of each student by offering a musical and instrumental program (in addition to regular work based on technique). Students will be able to play along to playbacks (soundtracks), solo, or simply following a score. The courses will of course be focused on different points, according to your requests. I will use musical language, and teach you how to read a Drum score using simple and effective methods.
I offer a cultural approach to different styles to my students (funk, groove, hip-hop, rock, reggae, jazz, etc.).
I also give lessons in music theory, timpani, djembe, percussion, piano according to your request.

The drums are a fundamental instrument for any musician. As a drummer, you'll need to master coordination, rhythm, and expressiveness. I've designed this course as a practical guide to developing your technique and musicality.
You will learn the basics of rhythm, rudiments, limb independence, play different styles, and use advanced techniques to enrich your playing and fully express your creativity.

I have been playing drums since I was 5 years old, this instrument has always been present in my life. I have met several teachers and therefore several different pedagogies during my learning, going through a small music school, a departmental conservatory (CRD of Blois), a regional conservatory (CRR of Toulouse), private schools (Agostini, Jazz in Tours), a musicology faculty as well as in jazz and contemporary music ensembles. I would now like to share with you the best pedagogy that I was able to draw from all these experiences.
