My class is for anyone wishing to improve on their English language skills. My goal is to help students gradually develop confidence with using everyday English and my classes will be tailored to the individual needs/wants of every student. I specialise in conversational practice, but can also assist students wishing to focus on reading, grammar and pronunciation. I am also happy to design homework tasks that are suitable for what every student is hoping to achieve.

About Me

I was born in the UK and moved to Australia with my family when I was five years old.

After spending the past five years working at The University of Sydney, I decided to move to Tokyo for a change of environment and a completely new experience. I speak Japanese conversationally, and currently, receive private Japanese lessons three times per week.

I'm particularly interested in photography, English literature, sports (cycling and football) and education.

Education

In 2013 I graduated from the University of Sydney with a Bachelor of Arts (Media and Communications) degree. I studied English Literature, Modern History and Gender Studies as my electives.

Experience / Qualifications

I have taught a wide range of students over the past ten years, in both English language and English literature classes and 1:1 environments.

-I taught English literature and writing classes for elementary and junior high school level students at a private education college in Sydney, Australia, from 2012-2016. This included test preparation classes, and 1:1 English language tuition for students with beginner/intermediate English.

-I have also worked for two years as a private academic tutor for high school and university students, specialising in English Literature and History.

I have extensive experience working with adult Japanese professionals of several different levels in English grammar. I frequently assist students in proofreading and editing essays, theses, dissertations, research papers and articles intended for professional and scholarly periodicals.

Based in Tokyo, I've been teaching English for over two years now. I specialize in English conversation, and test prepping. I have experience teaching students ranging from ages 4 to 15, developing my own lesson plans to cater exactly to what my students need. My goal is to build confidence in my students to where they can speak English naturally.

Please do not be afraid if you cannot communicate smoothly in English. I should be able to communicate with you in Japanese (日本語を話せるよー). I like to be very casual, and calm during my lessons. It's not a strict atmosphere. Let's have fun and enjoy learning together :)
