Physics and Mathematics Tutoring | VG & University Foundations | UiS MSc
From 44 C$ /h
Build a clear understanding of mathematics and physics, with lessons adapted to your course, current level and goals. I support upper-secondary students (videregående/VG), O-Level students and students taking introductory university mathematics or physics.
I completed my MSc in Mathematics and Physics, specialising in Physics, at the University of Stavanger in August 2026. My master's thesis received an A. My teaching experience includes six separate part-time student-assistant appointments at UiS and school teaching in O-Level physics and mathematics.
Topics we can work on include:
• Physics: motion, forces, energy, mechanics, electricity, waves and foundational concepts.
• Mathematics: algebra, functions, trigonometry, differentiation, integration and introductory calculus.
• Homework guidance, revision, practice questions and preparation for tests and exams.
We start by identifying what you understand and where you get stuck. I explain the ideas, work through examples with you and guide you towards solving problems independently. You will practise setting up problems, choosing useful methods and checking whether an answer makes sense.
Lessons are taught in English and can follow your own school or university materials. For lower-secondary science covering physics, chemistry and biology, please see my separate Naturfag class for grades 8–10.

About Me
I'm Muhammad Abubakar, a Stavanger-based mathematics and physics tutor with an MSc in Mathematics and Physics (specialisation in Physics) from the University of Stavanger. My teaching experience includes university exercise sessions and school-level physics and mathematics.
I help students build confidence by breaking problems into clear steps, connecting equations to physical ideas and checking understanding through guided practice. Lessons are adapted to your level, school materials and goals, from strengthening foundations to preparing for tests and exams.
I offer mathematics and physics support through upper-secondary (videregående/VG) and introductory university level, plus lower-secondary science (naturfag, grades 8–10), including physics, chemistry and biology foundations.
Lessons are taught in English. I also speak Urdu and Punjabi. My Norwegian is approximately A2, and I am attending B1 classes.

Experience / Qualifications
University of Stavanger — Student Assistant in Physics and Mathematics (six separate part-time appointments, 2022–2026). Supported exercise sessions, guided problem solving and helped students formulate problems mathematically and check their reasoning. Courses include FYS100, MAT100, MAT200 and the FIN211 physics pre-course. Current appointment: MAT100, September–December 2026.
American Lyceum School and Al-Hasna School, Pakistan — Physics and Mathematics Teacher (September 2021–July 2022; concurrent appointments). Taught O-Level physics and mathematics and Grade 8 physics.
Research experience includes experimental materials physics, sensor measurements and Python-based data analysis. I bring this practical background into explanations of scientific concepts and problem solving.

Science tutoring for lower-secondary students: ungdomsskole, grades 8–10, the school level before videregående/VG. This class covers the physics, chemistry and biology foundations within naturfag.
We can work on:
• Physics: forces, motion, energy, electricity and simple scientific models.
• Chemistry: atoms, the periodic table, chemical reactions, conservation of mass and combustion.
• Biology: cells, the human body, photosynthesis, respiration, ecosystems and biodiversity.
• Scientific vocabulary, interpreting diagrams and graphs, homework guidance and preparation for school tests.
I completed an MSc in Mathematics and Physics, specialising in Physics, at the University of Stavanger in August 2026. My teaching background includes UiS exercise sessions, O-Level physics and mathematics, and Grade 8 physics.
I use clear explanations, everyday examples and step-by-step practice to help students understand ideas and explain them in their own words. Lessons follow the student's current school topics and materials.
Teaching is in English. Students may bring their Norwegian school materials, with explanations in English. This class offers chemistry and biology at lower-secondary level; my separate Mathematics and Physics class covers VG and introductory university topics.
