Hello,

My name is Berke. I have a BA degree from the Philosophy Department of Bogazici University. I am currently pursuing my MA degree in philosophy at the same institution. I have had experience in teaching Turkish to foreigners since the beginning of my university years in Istanbul, Turkey. I have realized both from my life-long experience in learning a foreign language and teaching Turkish to foreigners that exposing yourself to a new language is the best way for learning and speaking a language. Seeing that having conversations is really helpful for having an intutive grasp of Turkish, I put a special emphasis on learning grammar and vocabulary with conversations.

In our Turkish Speaking Sessions, you will learn the right ways to express yourself in Turkish by paying attention to vocabulary and grammar usages and mistakes.

It is possible to design session plans f you need to learn and speak Turkish for a specific area of interest, such as business, or for a need like presentation or exams.

I am willing to share pdf versions of all the essential text and audio Turkish learning materials with my students.

About Me
Hello,

I graduated from the Philosophy Department of Bogazici University. I am currently pursuing my MA degree in philosophy at the same institution. I believe that dialogues and discussions are essential to taking more critical perspectives into matters. It is also required for teaching and learning philosophy and its history. I do not want to throw on students a cluster of information. Instead, I would like to encourage my students to have a firm grasp of the topic and come up with their own ideas in a clear and cogent way. Furthermore, it is important that students become more skilled in discussing about certain topics and arguing for their own positions in a range of fields other than philosophy.

I aim to design my classes with students appropriate for their level, needs and interests.

My special interests are ethics (esp. Kantian ethics) and its history, the history of modern philosophy (from Descartes to Kant), political philosophy and feminist philosophy.
Although my education was mainly in analytic philosophy, I also took elective courses in continental philosophy. I would also be happy to include those figures in our discussions :)

I graduated from the Philosophy Department of Bogazici University. I am currently pursuing my MA degree in philosophy at the same institution. I have a strong interest in teaching philosophy to children and adults.

My special interests are ethics and its history, metaethics, the history of modern philosophy, political philosophy and feminist philosophy.

This is for those aspiring to improve their knowledge of philosophy and its history. You can improve your reading and argumentation skills. You can learn how to do close-reading and discuss philosophically on the texts that we choose together in accordance with your level, needs and interests.

It is possible to work on your critical thinking skills and apply them to an area of your choice, such as sociology or have discussion-only sessions on your questions and topics. I also teach symbolic logic and informal logic for analyzing texts.

I also offer guidance and revision for writing papers or homeworks

Hatice
Hi, I am Hatice from Istanbul.

I HAVE BEEN TEACHİNG ONLINE AND FACE TO FACE FOR 25 YEARS.
I am a native speaker of Turkish and was born in Istanbul.

I have been teaching Turkish to foreigners and I have taught hundreds of students from all ages and professions for more than 20 years. I am a professional English teacher but I like teaching Turkish more as it is my mother tongue and it is a great pleasure for me to share its secrets and beauty.

While teaching I also love giving some useful information about the culture, people, cuisine, films and literature in Turkey to help you get connected to Turkish culture. I prepare written and verbal dialogues in the areas the student is interested in.

I am from Istanbul but I traveled almost all cities, mountains, rivers, lakes in Turkey. I am a person who likes less traveled roads and back streets. Traveling around the world and reading on the areas of spirituality, philosophy, psychology, and literature are my number one hobbies. I lived and worked in London, Toronto, and S. Korea. Living as an expat and learning several languages have helped me having sympathy with my students. Motivation, feeling relaxed and setting realistic targets, in the beginning, are usually the first thing to go.

As for my formal education, I studied Economics, International Relations, Western Philosophy, and American language and literature at the university (MA and BA). And after my 40 years old, I learned classical Arabic and Persian and started to study Islamic spirituality at the doctorate level. I taught English at Prep. school at Istanbul Technical University and Yeditepe University and am retired. Ever since I could remember I have been a teacher. Now I only teach Turkish privately and translate classical novels from English to Turkish. I translated 12 books from English to Turkish.

I teach Turkish that is tailored for each student. Each student is unique for me and I know that every student has her/his own way of learning.
If you are a beginner I give a short lecture about the history of Turkish and its characteristics and help you find your way in this very logical, consistent and elegant language. You understand that Turkish is different but that does not necessarily mean difficulty.
From the first lesson, you start speaking Turkish and find yourself in a dialogue.

I can teach at my place and your place (all around Istanbul).

I use several books using a grammar-based approach integrated with communicative methods to boost the development of all language skills. But we always focus on TALK, TALK, TALK. As a language learner for many years, I know one can learn, improve and take pleasure in a foreign language only by talking and communicating. It is essential to get direct pleasure from what you have learned. My aim is to motivate and inspire you to speak Turkish ignoring minor mistakes and without thinking grammar.

I try to keep in contact with my students almost every day through whatsapp and email. And start some short dialogues.
