Experience / Qualifications
To the Concerned Client or Student,
My name is Kimberley, and I am a currently an undergraduate student studying a double degree (International Business & Media) student at the University of New South Wales, Australia. I was born and raised in Sydney with English being my native language. I am also fluent in Cantonese, and conversational in Mandarin.
I was educated at Queenwood School for Girls, an elite Australian private school, from Kindergarten to Year 10. In 2012 I undertook the entrance exam to North Sydney Girls, a top ranked selective girls school in the state of NSW, passing the exam I changed schools for the last two years of my schooling. During my university entrance exams I studied 4Units of English (the highest level of English a student can study), and scored 49/50 for my final paper in addition to my major work being published as an exemplar piece.
Since graduating I have tutored English privately, with the majority of my students ranging from the ages of 11 – 18. During this time I assisted primary school students achieve higher levels of written English for their Selective School Exams, with special focus on basic essay and creative writing. With my older students aged 15 and onwards lessons revolved around preparing for the High School Certificate. Special attention was given to developing complex essay writing abilities, in addition to practicing effective language techniques to compose an emotive creative writing piece. Most recently during 2017 I assisted 7 adult Chinese International Students improve their spoken English skills to score over a 7.0 in their IELTS spoken examination.
Some small fun facts about me are that I enjoy going to the beach, trying new restaurants, and have been an avid reader since a young age. Some of my favourite authors include Haruki Murakami, Patrick Rothfuss, and Kathryn Stockett.
Currently I am on exchange as a language student at Shanghai Jiaotong University, and I am very much looking forward in continuing my teaching experience here with new students, new objectives, and new experiences. I thank you in advance for considering me to be your tutor and I hope to meet you soon!
Best Wishes,
Kimberley
