About Me

My name is Yuli, and I'm 44 years old. After graduating from the music high school in Burgas, Bulgaria, I studied at the Cologne University of Music in Germany, later earning a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Halle. Until the pandemic in 2020, I worked as a pianist and piano teacher in Germany, the Netherlands, and Belgium. After a three-year break, I decided to teach in beautiful Zurich. Experience has shown that learning is most effective in one's own home, so I offer piano lessons in your home. A free, no-obligation trial lesson is ALWAYS included before we discuss further steps. After all, the chemistry has to be right, especially when it comes to making music together.

Music must be free from coercion. Therefore, I only charge for hours worked; holidays or sick leave are not paid, there is no subscription, and no notice periods apply.

I teach composition, arrangement and production and tend to use my voice a lot to realize melodic and rhythmic ideas with great piano support. I have developed a technique to arrange and produce with the "beatbox" as well. I think it's important to motivate students with projects live or in the studio, preferably with other musicians.
I also teach aural training in recognizing intervals between notes, rhythmic and melodic dictation, and recognizing chords and keys. I teach improvisation on keyboards, voice or percussion using methods that involve scales and melodic patterns applied in practice.
