★ Mini-group lessons:

Do you often wonder why you can't progress?

Because you are looking left and right for information, advice and books to read but you are getting scattered.

You constantly watch chess videos on the Internet which are entertaining but it is too passive an activity which does not really make you study chess in depth.

Then you will play online games at too fast a pace while you do not master the general principles.

In fact, you have developed bad reflexes because you keep repeating the same mistakes without even realizing it, which is why your level quickly stagnates.

When you analyze your games, click on the 20th move and you will realize that often your game is already badly engaged. You often manage your time badly, you play too fast when it is important to choose the right voice and you hesitate too long in positions where the moves are obvious.

Then, you make a game report which tells you that you played with 80% accuracy but nevertheless you lost and you do not necessarily understand the main reasons.

And finally, you watch the game with an analysis module which offers you good moves but does not provide you with the explanations necessary to fully understand them.

Some teachers also offer group lessons with a monthly subscription which can help you progress slightly, but what you need is a truly personalized lesson.

Taking private lessons will save you a lot of time because I know the methods that work to progress and quickly be more competitive. I will teach you the essential concepts to master to better understand chess overall and I can recommend interesting books to study alongside classes.

I have always liked to pass on my knowledge to my students so that they can give the best of themselves. This is why, over the years, I have improved my teaching techniques and I have created a real training program in order to best help my students unlock their potential.

It is important to understand that good progress is a subtle balance between playing and studying.

Whether you want to compete for fun or to win titles, whether you want to beat your friends or simply discover the complexity of the game of chess: this announcement is made for you!

★ I would like to reassure “beginners” who are sometimes a little “ashamed” of their level by telling them that I have many beginner students!

★ Recent examples:

➤ September 2018, a 16-year-old student takes 1.5 hours of lessons per week to improve in competition. It goes from 1650 to 2000 in around fifteen hours of lessons!

➤ November 2019, I have 2 new students (29 and 30 years old) who are 1200 on Chesscom. One decides to take 3 hours of lessons per week and the other 4 hours. 1 year later, there are 2000 of them on the same site!

➤ September 2021, a 35-year-old student returns to chess competitions after a 20-year hiatus. With 1 hour of lessons per week, it goes from 1350 to 1650 after only 10 hours of lessons!

➤ September 2021, a 23-year-old student decides to take 3 hours of lessons per week at 1600 on Chesscom. After a year of lessons he reached 2380 in 15 minute games!

➤ July 2022, a 30-year-old student decides to take 2 hours of lessons per week, he is then 800 on Chesscom. Barely 6 months later, it is 1450 on the same site!

➤ December 2023, one of my young students went from 1600 to 2000 FIDE elo in 2 years of lessons and became Paris Champion in his age category!

➤ May 2024, a 26-year-old unranked student takes lessons regularly. 1 year later, he joins FIDE with a first rating > 1950!

★ If you still have hesitations, I have more than 200 reviews left by my students at the bottom of the ad. You can read some of them, this will allow you to get a better idea of the quality of the courses and the good atmosphere that reigns there.

In order for the lessons to be effective, the secret is regularity, that is to say doing at least 1 hour of lessons per week.

★ ★ Mini group lessons (2 to 3 people):

➤ If you don't want to take lessons alone because you've never taken one.

➤ If you want to work on common themes with your friends who have a similar level to yours.

➤ If you want your teenagers to do something more interesting than spending their days in front of their tablets.

➤ Or if you simply want quality courses at a preferential price.

This offer might interest you!

★ ★ Individual lessons for adults and experienced children: I offer quality lessons with a real methodology!

★ Progress of the first lessons:

Whether you're competing or playing online, we'll analyze your games over a few sessions. This will allow me to assess your knowledge, thought process, strengths and typical mistakes in order to together define a training program for the upcoming sessions.

For this program to be viable I will take into account your level, your ambitions but also the time you can devote to playing and studying.

★ And for the following courses:

➤ A complete and effective repertoire of openings (created with the latest software), adapted to your style and your level.

Examples: London System, Viennese, Scottish, Tarrash, Sicilian c3, Alekhine, Modern, Philidor, Scandinavian, Caro-Kann, Slavic, East Indian Defense, Petrov...

This repertoire is not based on opening traps but on understanding each move played. This will allow you to play good moves without learning tons of variations by heart!

We will study the openings together in a practical order according to what you are played the most. My goal is not to make you learn tons of lines that you are never played!

I would like to point out that the lines have been worked on very seriously, so you will be able to play them throughout your progression. You will therefore not spend your life re-studying the openings by buying books or online databases, which will save you a lot of time and money!

I would like to point out that I show absolutely everything I know!

➤ A multitude of tactical exercises to be able to take a decisive advantage during your games. I will also teach you methods to optimize your calculations!

➤ The study of elementary checkmates and essential endgames in order to master endgames.

➤ Learn to build a plan in the middle of the game through the study of the games of world champions and their contemporaries.

The goal is to show you a multitude of different patterns so that you have sufficient chess knowledge to be able to play all types of positions well. You will thus develop automatisms and a certain sense of the game which will help you in your games!

This whole methodology aims to make you a complete player.

★★ Courses for beginner children (from 5 years old):

I have a lot of students between 5 and 14 years old who are beginners, it's really an audience I'm used to working with!

It is essential that children have fun, which is why my approach is above all fun!

Each child is different, I always adapt my teaching according to their age, their desires and their level.

I play with them to teach them to think while they play. Chess works a lot on concentration and patience, which is good for school. I teach them to understand the opponent's moves so they can counter them.

I make them a small repertoire of openings and I teach them the typical traps of their favorite openings.

For the rest, I give them simple exercises to start with, then I progress at the student's pace so that they learn the different rules and techniques while having fun!

My lessons boil down to this: good humor and efficiency!

★ Video lessons:

I will send you a Google Meet link in your inbox; this platform will be used to communicate and share my screen.

I have a good quality webcam and a Razer Seiren Mini microphone which are perfect for good transcription of lessons. You will see that video lessons are just as effective as home lessons!

I download your played games from the Internet and then we analyze them via ChessBase.

Thanks to this software, I have access to all my lessons, so I can present classic games to you as well as openings that I have already analyzed beforehand.

I can also show plans using colored arrows, highlight threats, important squares to control or show a weakened pawn structure.

It also contains a database of 12 million games which I use to illustrate my explanations with famous games.

We will also do educational games: I will watch you play and comment on your thought process live, I will also ask you questions that will make you think about specific points. The goal is not to guide you so that you win games but rather to improve your way of thinking.

At the end of each lesson, I send my lessons by email so that you can review the points worked together!

Extra information
★ My father taught me to play chess at 8 years old and although he beat me all the time I loved it right away! When I started middle school, he signed me up for my local club. A few months later, I played my first tournament. I knew I wasn't strong and my only fear was finishing last. I still got 1.5/5! A year later, I signed up for the same tournament and finished 1st with 5/5!

★ I was so hungry to progress that I always wanted to face better opponents and see what I was capable of, so I worked on chess alone for almost all of my progress.

★ 12 years later, at 24, I exceeded the 2300 elo mark and became a Master of the International Chess Federation (MF).

★ At 25 years old (in 2006), after having achieved my 3 standards (3 performances >2450 elo) and exceeded 2400 elo, I became an International Master (IM).

★ Since my beginnings, I have always been passionate about chess and I wanted to transmit my passion, which is why I started giving lessons in 2003. I have had hundreds of students of all ages (from 5 to 87 years old) and of all levels (from beginner to Candidate Master) which, in more than 20 years, represents approximately 18,000 hours of lessons.

I mainly give private lessons but I have also given lessons in clubs. I have been coach of several regions (twice for the Île-de-France league, once for the Martinique League and for several Parisian clubs) for the French youth championships for 4 years. I gave several simultaneous games (about 25 players), I even had a booth for a whole weekend in a shopping center for Father's Day where I played free games against the public.

★ Competition level, I played in interclubs in all the existing divisions (from the National 5 to the Top 16) which allowed me to know both the high level and the amateur level.

I have participated in over 800 tournaments, including many international tournaments. I have won over 40 tournaments, including youth and adult tournaments, blitz, rapid, and long-game tournaments.

For connoisseurs, I have a game in Informateur 83 (book which brings together the best games of the last 6 months) for a very good game that I played at the French championship.

I even had a diagram in the chess section of the newspaper Libération for a nice combination that I made at the Paris championship.

★ In France, I am among the 200 best French players out of 76,000 licensed players.

I am very familiar with community life, having played in a club for 25 years. I am currently the Vice President of my chess club.

For the rest, I have a degree in Psychology which allows me to give practical advice to my students on how to approach the games and help them best combat their stress problems in front of the chessboard.

Since 2014, I have also been providing academic support so I am used to working with children with whom I have very good contact because I understand their ways of reasoning very well.

★ I am versatile:

I can help your children with French and Maths. I can also help them in English and Spanish but I should point out that I am not trilingual, I provide academic support.

★ I'm listening:

A prior discussion with parents is essential in order to know precisely the academic problems of their children and to best guide my lessons. I also like to ask the children afterwards what their difficulties are to see if parents and children have the same perception. When the assessment is established, I question the students on what they are studying in class with a view to following the program while trying to review specific points that have not been assimilated.

I mainly use their courses and their textbooks so that my students keep their bearings, but if necessary I use the material I have.

★ I am a translator of incomprehensible courses:

Indeed, the lessons are completely incomprehensible for most students. They are formalized in a way that no teenager can understand them. All students have the potential to become good as long as the concepts are well explained.

My mission is therefore to simplify them and transcribe them into clear language.

★ I am methodical:

I have improved my working methods through my 8 years of teaching. They are based on understanding and not on rote learning. The students must be able to re-explain their lesson to me and thus demonstrate that it has been completely understood. I give exercises of increasing difficulty and which allow optimal progression. I can also give exercises to do for the next session.

When there is time left, I even take the opportunity to move forward with the program so that they get the best possible grades!

★ I am a coach with a psychological approach:

During my adolescence, I was school phobic and that's why I do everything to help my students feel better at school.

I'm not just here to help them with their homework. All my lessons are personalized because each student is different. I like to know how they perceive the subject, if they appreciate their teachers in class, the job they want to do later...

I make a point of letting my students find the solutions to the exercises on their own so that they are proud of themselves. In addition, I will encourage them to develop a taste for effort (pay attention to their spelling and write neatly) in order to systematically produce quality work and gain self-esteem. I restore confidence in my students because it is important that they are happy and motivated to be effective in their work.

★ I do my job with pleasure:

I like to pass on knowledge and see my students progress. Teaching is for me a real pleasure and not a nutritional need. I therefore offer real supervision throughout the school year.

Observation, listening, work and encouragement are the 4 pillars of my teaching.

The goal is for them to be autonomous and independent at the end of the school year!

My lessons boil down to this: good humor and efficiency!

★ Hours:

- Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

★ Do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions because I am very responsive (about 1 hour). We can therefore organize a first lesson quickly.
