Bonjour! My name is Izabel. I have been living in Rennes for a month and I am a part time nanny and English tutor for children in this beautiful city. I was a nanny for 2 years before travelling in March 2016 for 6 months and now settling in Rennes with my partner. I was born in Wales and moved to London to study and lived in London for 7 years. I have taught English in the UK and have experience with children and adults.

I like to start with the basics then move on to sentence structure grammar and conversation skills. I am flexible with times and dates and provide printouts and worksheets that we work on together. I am happy to meet with you first to discuss what you are looking for and talk if you have had a teacher in the past. I want the lessons to work for you and to help you learn the language in a fun and friendly way. I enjoy teaching using a mix of books, talking and games. A basic conversation is a wonderful way to learn the language.

My lessons last 1-2 hours.

As a DUT student, I particularly like English, so I studied English for 7 years to obtain my Profiency 3 diploma (+ toefl preparation) which translates into level C2. I also have 3 years of professional experience as an English teacher with people of all ages and all levels.

Also, I love getting my students to speak since I think practice is the secret to learning a language and improving your knowledge. I always structure my classes around real-life themes (how to introduce yourself, how to make an appointment, how to shop, how to get to the doctor, English at work, etc).
We will see grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation together. If you are intermediate, we will also do courses on texts. We will put both grammar and vocabulary into practice.

You will be very well supervised, I will always be by your side to guide you and I promise you a warm and friendly teaching environment. Your progress with me is guaranteed no matter your level or your goals :)

I obtained the CELTA certification in October 2021, which is a certification issued by Cambridge and which confirms my ability to teach English as a foreign language. I have been passionate about this language and Anglo-Saxon cultures for over 20 years. What do I enjoy most about my job? Exchanging and sharing my knowledge.
