English is falsely presented as an easy language, especially by French speakers. This is a serious mistake! While French is often difficult because of the many grammatical exceptions, particularly regarding spelling, English is endowed with immense complexity in terms of its sounds. Whereas the French speaker complains about itchy eyes, the English speaker will have difficulty hearing you, and no, it's not snobbery; their ear has been educated in a more subtle way.
