About Me

I have been teaching English for nearly 30 years. I live in beautiful Portland Oregon and I've stayed in more than 40 countries and have friends, clients, and apprentices all over the world! I love to help people reach their goals with English, especially when it's not just for a test but for social or business purposes. Tourism, health, games, social justice, environment, politics, music, and art are topics that I especially love.

Experience / Qualifications

I have a TESOL Certificate from an accredited public university in the US, and I have been teaching English since 1996. I work with immigrants and refugees in the US, and anyone else who wants to work with me or my student teachers on line! I started my own business People-Places-Things in 2011 and I've trained nearly 500 English teachers.

Hi there! My name is Quinn K., and I am a TEFL-certified professional English/Foreign language teacher with a passion for a multitude of languages. I have taught English all over the pacific rim, in Vietnam, Korea and Japan, both at professional English-teaching schools and with private tutoring. I have also tutored English for several years in Portland, Oregon.

In Vietnam I privately tutored a wide variety of age groups in English, ranging from Kindergarten to college-aged students. I tutored younger age groups in English Vocabulary and Conversation skills, and college students for IELTS/TOEFL prep and general professional English. In Seoul, South Korea I worked at a school for North Korean refugees, teaching conversational English to large classes. In Japan, I worked at an after-school program teaching English to middle school students, employing ESL games and structured lessons for students. Through these various English-teaching endeavors, I believe I have a strong skill-set for teaching English to all age groups, and in the full range of contexts (Conversational-to business English). Once returning to the United States, I began one-on-one tutoring sessions for professional and conversational English. In total I have 3 years of professional experience tutoring and teaching English.

In combination with my TEFL certification, which has strengthened the backbone of my lessons in professional English, my qualifications and experiences make me the perfect pick for all of your English tutoring needs :)

I also speak and tutor a wide variety of foreign languages, including French, Spanish, Cantonese, and Korean. I have extensive background in all of these languages (grammar, pronunciation, etc.), and can teach them as fluidly as I can English.
