About Me

Hi there! My name is Gabrielle - I am originally from The United States but, I currently live in the Mediterranean country of Greece!

I have been tutoring for 3 years here in Athens, working with both children and adults. It has been very exciting to watch my students gain confidence in speaking and understanding English! I am fascinated by language/culture and through teaching my native language, I have had the opportunity to learn so many things about other languages and this is a great thrill for me!

Truly, the English language is everywhere and thus is a very useful linguistic skill to have. Whatever your reasons may be for wanting to learn this language, I offer a friendly atmosphere and dedication to help you with proficiency.

My method of teaching is both immersive and interactive. We will first, engage in Conversional Basics to assess your familiarity with speaking and comprehending English and afterwards, we will move on to Basic Grammar. Along with this, you will have real-time use of and practice with speaking the language. The most important thing one can do when learning a foreign language is to speak it as often as possible. This helps us absorb vocabulary and sentence structure in a way we are less likely to forget - similar to how children learn to speak!
The lessons will focus on 3 specific points:

⁃ Pronunciation
⁃ Vocabulary
⁃ Dialogue

In addition, we will do word drills, tongue-twisters, flash cards, reading exercises and learn idioms (i.e. "On the ball" which is a way of saying that someone is "doing a good job") that will enhance the way you understand English.

If desired, I will also develop a lesson plan that caters to your immediate needs whether that may be, a job interview, public speaking etc. In this case, we will focus more heavily on annunciating and articulating the associated vocabulary to help you excel.

My hope is that all of this will get you speaking quickly and with ease!
