Online Oral practice with speaking and understanding English.
From 28.32 C$ /h
These lessons are designed to help with oral English comprehension and English pronunciation.
The biggest enemy in speaking English is self-confidence. And learning a language is about speaking, repetition and making the connection between your "normal brain" and the part of your brain that tries to think English. It also doesn't help that English actually pops up all over and a lot of knowledge is often expected of it.
In the beginning we will start with a quiet conversation, about the news, about something you have a lot to say about or about something easy like your family or the name of your street. Take a look at where you are in speaking English and where you would like to be.
The further classification depends on what you want to achieve. Perhaps you want to be able to go on holiday with a safer feeling, practice for a professional/academic future or test, you want to improve your potato English or just repeat some old knowledge.
Based on your goals, we draw up a plan together. Examples include adjusting grammar, practicing specific social/professional scenarios, or practicing understanding videos or radio.
It is especially important that you feel comfortable and that together we can take concrete steps towards your goal!

About Me
I have several years of experience in education, both for students and adults, and I have especially noticed how important it is to adapt the way of learning to the student, instead of the other way around.
In my classes I focus on two things: mutual respect and "get it, don't stomp".
Especially for students there are many tricks, both for learning and for taking tests, that can already help a lot. Learning how to make a summary, skimming instead of reading, understanding how reading texts are put together or trying out a different way of learning can sometimes make a world of difference. No student I've ever worked with has been really lazy and a little understanding can make a big difference.
I also offer proofreading and English oral. Basically the same principle applies to both: people get better at things when they can try things out without being ashamed. This is the most important thing for me to hold on to during lessons or grading.
Also, please don't be put off by the word students; the bravest of us can learn at any age and often my "students" are older than me.
I am currently finishing my studies in Greece. I'm lucky that my contact hours are few, and I have classes in the evening, so I have plenty of time on my hands. This makes me flexible in planning and possibly converting lessons.

I have a university education in History, English, Philosophy, Dutch, Art History and Social Studies.
These subjects have in common that they often involve a lot of reading and that it is sometimes difficult to keep an overview while studying for a test.
During these lessons we can work together to see why you are struggling with (1 of) these subjects. Has someone really explained to you how to make a summary, for example, or do you know what "skimming" a text is?
We will also practice how to go about answering an open question, how to write an essay or take reading tests. There is also the possibility for subject-specific exam training.
I have experience in supervising students with reading problems and attention problems and I understand that these students can often use a different kind of help in subjects with a lot of text.

The homework guidance is mainly about finding out together how you learn best, what is possible in your life and your week and how you can best approach your schoolwork based on that.
These lessons can be something weekly, or in preparation for a test week.
Together we can keep track of your schedule, find out which tactics work for you per subject, or look together at parts of your homework that you are struggling with. Of course we can also prepare tests together.
How do you study for a test? It is quickly said that you should "just stomp" or "just" make a summary. But has anyone ever explained to you how to actually do that?
During these tutorials we first go over the basics of mind maps, summaries, how your brain really remembers information in a way that works for you. We look at the tricks of listening tests, reading tests, why you should learn History differently than Dutch and how to answer an open question.
For older students, there is also the option to set up papers together, receive guidance with your profile paper, or simply have a first grader before it is actually graded.
