Have you ever wondered how scientists make discoveries? In this class, students will learn how to investigate questions using the same fundamental methods employed by researchers in science and engineering.

Rather than focusing solely on memorization, students will learn how to formulate research questions, gather and analyze data, evaluate evidence, and communicate their findings. Topics may include experimental design, scientific reasoning, statistics, data analysis, scientific writing, and the use of technology to explore real-world problems.

Students will have the opportunity to design and carry out their own research projects based on their interests. Possible project areas include physics, astronomy, environmental science, mathematics, computer programming, engineering, and other STEM fields.

This course is ideal for curious students who want to move beyond learning science and begin doing science. No prior research experience is required. Instruction is available in both English and Spanish.

My name is Farid, and I am a Physics student at Arizona State University with research experience through the California Institute of Technology (IPAC) and ongoing involvement in astronomical research projects.

I have been tutoring since 2018 and enjoy helping students build confidence in mathematics, physics, and STEM subjects. I am a qualified and experienced mathematics tutor. Graduated from the Free University of Brussels in 2011, I started my career by teaching remedial courses in different schools in Brussels. I then specialized in individual academic support by following educational training at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. I have been giving private mathematics lessons daily for over ten years.

The students who follow my private lessons benefit from personalized support. The first session is devoted to an in-depth assessment of the student's mathematical knowledge.
