About Me
I was born in Budapest, Hungary and I spent most of my childhood years there, with some time also spent in the USA where part of my family lives.
At the age of 19, I moved to the UK to pursue my higher education. At age 26, I decided to leave London and move to Southeast Asia to work there as an English teacher. I spent the following 7 years mostly in Thailand - with a half-a-year detour in Nepal - teaching English at various schools and organisations.
In 2019, I decided to move back to Europe, and since then, I have started focusing more on teaching adults and delving deeper into the world of online teaching.
Besides education and English teaching, I occasionally also work as a translator, mostly in subtitle translation.
I find linguistics and language acquisition truly fascinating, and I am incredibly grateful for having had the opportunity not only to teach people from various linguistic backgrounds but also to experience it first-hand as a language learner.
Teaching is not only my profession but also my passion. I find something deeply rewarding in the process of helping people learn and via the learning process bloom and gain confidence.
I decided to become an English language teacher as a direct consequence of my experiences in my personal education and life. I understand the challenges and negative effects certain teaching methods and learning environments can have on learners, as well as the difficulties of moving to a new country and culture where one doesn't understand the language. I've personally prepared for and successfully passed the Cambridge English, IELTS and TOIEC tests, university entrance exams and countless job interviews in different countries. Throughout these experiences, I have learnt the importance of understanding one's own learning style and preferred learning methods and the value of having a good teacher to mentor and support us through our learning journey.
