From 108 C$ /h
As an IB Mathematics workshop leader, a head of Maths from an international school and experienced teacher, I am very confident to make Maths one of the best subject for my student. I am teaching online and I am using range variety of the tools for my lessons.
I have students such that I started when they were at primary school and I still am tutoring when they are at IB level.
I use my personal private tuition lecture notes to teach usually and I have a little space to accommodate 2-3 more students in my schedule.

About Me
Dr. Taylan
I have been working for 23 years as a teacher of Mathematics and also head of math department. During this time, I have developed so many educational resources. The top of my self made materials is my special mathematics books for IB and IGCSE. I am proud to be the writer of the books for IB-HL, IB-SL, IGCSE-Math Extended and IGCSE-Math Core. I spent more than 10 years writing these books and my students have the chance of using them as booklets for each chapter interactively. Up to average IB and IGCSE results of my classes is not a coincidence. This study throughout the years helped me to increase the level of my self-professionalism as well.
I am also curious to use new technologies, any web related resources like manage-bac, different DVDs, CDs and books to enrich the learning experience of my students. This diversity is the best way for capturing and sustaining the interest of the nowaday students’.
I have been teaching Mathematics in English for 23 years. I started my teaching experience at one of the top schools of Istanbul Yuzyil Isil Private Schools as an intern but then continued my teaching at Dogus Private Schools after 9 years passed in total; I have been working at the British International School of Istanbul. I participated in so many international insets and seminars for teaching IB and IGCSE better. I now have an ID of as an international teacher and I am confident to work in any other International school.
Maybe the traveler sleeping inside me has woken up, maybe the wish to live in different countries and meet with new cultures forced me to apply for a job abroad.
I have a PhD in teaching Mathematics and Science but for many years I have only been teaching Mathematics. So I am more confident to teach Mathematics than Science, even though I have a double major diploma.
I am also an IB examiner and a workshop leader. HL Mathematics is where I am very strong at and in years I created tens of worksheets and hence wrote my own book.
Apart from all that I am also an elite athlete, training on long distance and xc running. In 2015 I won a bronze medal in the national athletics championship in 10000 m by running this distance at 35 min 15 seconds. So as seen, running is my extra curricular branch for the schools I am working in. Currently, I am the coach of COBIS races and school teams for running and as a team we achieved so many gold medals after intense and hard workouts and training. I am also accepted as a volunteer for 2016 Rio Olympic games, where I am very happy, excited and proud.
I am confident I have a great deal to offer any private tuition in my area.

WORK EXPERIENCE:
2016-...
IBEN International Baccalaureate, Africa, Europe, Middle East
IBEN ID#: 0083638
Workshop Leader and Examiner
One of the recent accomplishments since 2016, which makes me extremely happy and proud, is becoming a workshop leader for DP Mathematics (mostly HL) specifically. It was a long time dream for me and to make it come true, I personally worked on it thoroughly and step by step, diligently and patiently to pass each step until I reached where I am now. Therefore, I have the chance to prepare and share category 1, 2 and 3 levels of workshops with my other international colleagues, simply interacting and collaboratively exchanging ideas, all together trying to understand and implement the IB philosophy better and hence becoming better and more sophisticated teachers. Therefore as a workshop leader, I have been given workshops all around the world for IB. 2018 is the year for IB full of training. In September 2018, I completed upskilling workshops about ATL followed by the new mathematics courses of Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation SL and HL, Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches SL and HL section of IB. I have given my first workshop with the Curriculum Manager, DP Mathematics; Deborah Sutch, and since then I am actively working for the excellence of the new DP maths syllabi. I will also share one of my feedback forms, we receive after each workshop from the official IB.

Mathematics Teacher and Head of Maths Department
I have been working at BISI for almost 14 years and I am the teacher with the most number of years in my department here. Such that in 2019 I was promoted to become HoD.
I have been teaching KS3, (year-7,year-8, year-9), KS4 (IGCSE) and KS5 (IB DP) for almost all of my teaching career. My prior role in my school is to be a teacher for HL Mathematics since I have PhD and long experience and passion to teach HL but I also like to teach SL and can teach Math studies if necessary. I can proudly say that I never got a failing score with any of my IB students at a higher level. My lowest score was 4 (pass) and I managed to get 7s in these courses. Also, I love the inquiry-based mathematics and being a mentor for the extended essays and IAs for the IB.
For IGCSE Mathematics, I taught core, extended and additional levels and for my KS3 students, we, as a school, are following the modified national UK curriculum. In fourteen years, while working here I managed to write four mathematics books, including so many practical worksheet questions and interactive teaching notes. I also have an archive for remote teaching and learning for online education on showme.
The books I produced are IB-DP-HL Mathematics, IB-DP-SL Mathematics, Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics Core Level and Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics Extended Level. I will also add one section of my books at the end of my CV, just to give an opinion who wants to look through quickly. I prepare periodic weekend homework and their detailed marking schemes for each class level I am teaching and it is a truly dynamic process which means I still am preparing the new ones constantly as I gain more experience and I presume this passion will never end in me.
Consistently for many years, my IB and IGCSE scores are at the high rank and this is one of the most objective reflections of my hard work as a teacher. So far I have been very busy writing my books and other IB related academic stuff such that I did not even think to apply for any further position.
Not only for the IB but also for the school I am working at. I love giving workshops and being part of the inset days. One of the workshops I presented at school was about using I-pad pro in the classrooms efficiently, and it also was very well-liked by many of my colleagues.
I am the person responsible for Pi day /Pies sections and try my best to be part of various cross-curricular activities. Apart from mathematics, running is my second passion and I am a half-elite athlete, a long-distance runner. I won a bronze medal in the 10k National race in the summer of 2017. I love xc too. I am the coach for COBIS games distance runners’ school team and also working in the “running in the forest” club for many years.
Animal rights are the social section of my work at BISI, every year I volunteer to organize a bake sale for the animal that needs our support and lives in shelters. I am very proud to be an animal rights activist, too.
Addition to my mathematical career, on 30th Nov 2015, I was accepted to work for the Olympic Games for Rio-2016 as an Athletics official volunteer and so happy to achieve this after so many elections. It was a very unique and truly international experience.
2000-2007
Doğuş Group of Private School, Istanbul,TR
KS3 Mathematics and Science Teacher
When I started my career I was interested in teaching both science and mathematics, therefore before 2007, two schools I worked at, I worked as a mathematics and also middle school science teacher.
The biggest and the most unique contribution from me, those years were the new lessons; creativity for maths and science, once a week, I thought to all year 7, 8 and 9 students before their exam age started. I, one of my colleagues and Prof. Aslan together planned the activities and lesson plans for this lesson. During this time, we cooperated with the Crayola ®, Torrance creativity test, Gloria Fender- learning, etc. Those students participated in science and maths fairs came up with big success. Among those projects, “To what extent coke is harmful to us?”, “Way to grow giant plants, hormonal research” awarded as the best project at the national science fair.
My science fair project “How to grow plants in space?” was valued and I got an invitation from NASA. This news was on the first page of many newspapers in Turkey (If you google my name you can still reach some of them). I went to the USA and took part in the teacher of the year reception held by the Space Camp and NASA and had a chance to meet all states best teachers and gave them workshops about creativity in maths and science education.
I would like to attach the first page of the newspaper after my NASA invite to the states also as a second attachment file. It is in Turkish but I can translate If I am asked to do so.
Those years, I was not busy with writing my books, gave me the advantage to make and joined so many workshops.
While working at Doğuş, one of the most remarkable achievements was getting a special national MERIT certificate form the ministry of education for excelling my teaching in the class, after my class observation by one of the ministry inspectors. I can also share this special merit certificate if requested.
1998-2000
Yüzyıl Işıl Private Schools, Istanbul,TR
KS2 Assistant in Mathematics and Science Teaching
When I was a university student at Marmara University, I was also interested to complete my internship very efficiently. In fact, it was a good decision to have 2-year experience before graduation. I applied to the school as an assistant teacher for the maths and science department and became part of the teaching team in a year. I worked actively during maths and science lab times and worked so hard to make science and maths fair to happen. I was also teaching maths and science club times there. Even though it was hard to be a university student and a professional worker at the same time, I choose the harder option or path for my life. After graduation I was offered to stay in the school, but I prefer to work at Doğuş, since school is only 5 min away from my university, where I finished my PhD program.
