Open to all levels of Japanese, based on the textbook Tobira OR Genki, I am flexible to the student and their needs, and I am able to help with all aspects, such as speaking (formal or informal), writing, and vocabulary. My goal is to help the student become comfortable, and depending on the time the student has as well as their level, I am able to accommodate and also make study sets as well; however, for beginners, time spent studying and memorising is critical. While I can help with all aspects, I am not the best at extremely formal grammar used in settings such as the workplace.

For beginners, a writing device is highly recommened: ipad or note pad

About Me
Due to growing up in Hawaii with an education in English, I started learning Japanese formally in the 7th grade, so I know what it is like to learn a new language from scratch.
I really want people to learn Japanese, especially if they are planning to visit Japan, so I am able to help learn just simple phrases necessary to get around Japan, but I also want to make the sessions fun and something to look forward to

Education
I graduated from 'Iolani in 2024 with a 4.3/4.0 GPA and am now entering my 3rd year at Macalester College in Minnesota, double majoring in Japanese and International Studies with a concentration in Community and Global Health

I have taught/tutored Japanese casually with friends and peers using both a textbook and no textbooks, I have also taught only individual aspects such as speaking and writing
