Studies have shown that engaging in just 30-min daily reading can improve one's cognitive development. Importance of a good reading habit cannot be overstated. Becoming a strong confident reader can benefit all subjects for students at school and general proficiency for adults at work.

In order to optimize the benefits of reading, it is important that your children read with someone who can interact with them to engage them in their reading material. An overarching goal of this reading club is to foster good reading habit and joy of reading. We will also focus on building vocabulary, phonetic rules, pronunciation and comprehension.

Each reading club session will have a minimum of 3 students and a maximum of 4. This would be an ideal offer especially for parents who need support in reading daily with their children.

Extra information

Session will only take place when minimum of 3 students is reached and will not exceed the maximum of 4. Potential students will be put onto a waiting list until the minimum has been reached.

About Me

I am a very happy full-time homemaker, whose children are now in school, leaving me with time during the day to do one of my favorite activities which is to help others learn to read. Blessed with a child who is gifted and another who has special needs, along with my 11 years' worth of school students prior to starting my own family, I have gained a deep appreciation for the importance of reading, how vital it is to be consistent in reading with our children for them to become strong, confident readers, benefiting all other subjects in school. Also, having had the opportunity to have worked with such a spectrum of levels of reading skills has enriched my own skills as a teacher. My sessions are engaging and I maintain a happy, positive rapport with my students. I am also proficient in identifying the needs of my students in order to custom my lesson to target their needs.

I've worked professionally as an elementary school teacher for 11 years and tutored privately for over 20 years. Although I enjoy and specialize in teaching foundational beginning level reading, I am happy to and proficient in working with intermediate readers as well.

My focus will be on improving knowledge of phonetic rules, pronunciation, building vocabulary and comprehension. We will also work on conversational English through engaging discussion of reading materials.
