About Me

Hello! My name is Elise and I currently live in Madrid in Spain. I am a lover of modern languages and have a degree in French and Spanish. As part of this, I spent my year abroad split between Geneva, Switzerland & Zaragoza, Spain. I am a very fun and enthusiastic teacher and excited to return to Spain as a qualified English as a Foreign Language (EFL) teacher later this year.

My previous experience includes being an Au pair teaching English to two boys in Manresa, Spain, a Teaching Assistant for Year 10 & Year 13 as well as an Academic Peer Mentor. Last year I received my CELTA from International House in London where I learnt how to entwine the communicative approach into my everyday teaching. I look forward to designing dynamic lessons that will help to boost my student’s confidence and make learning English an enjoyable experience.

I have 4 years of experience in private school support classes, both with Primary and Secondary. I teach. I am also a free time monitor and I have experience in summer camps and schools from kindergarten to high school. I offer help with any subject, and I have a C1 in English.

As for the Spanish classes, they are conversation classes for children and adults who want to learn the language, and can also focus on the vocabulary and grammar of the language.

The student will be able to see different places in the capital of Spain without leaving the classroom and learn Spanish. My learning idea is based on interactive activities between my student and me, with word games, card games to improve the syllabi. I will also bring printed exercises for the denser syllabi and for reading comprehension activities in Spanish. We will see a text in which different topics will be discussed and the student must understand what each paragraph says. For this last exercise, I will use the texts and printed images from my printed edition of Guía de Madrid.

This course suggests that we enter a level of English that allows you to deal with your personal life and your professional life. Furthermore, the idea is to be able to talk about the media, to function in different environments. It is also important in this course to think about eating. How nice it is to know how to order a good plate of food or go to a gym knowing how to talk to people. Here you can delve into the different greetings and means of establishing contact with Spanish.

My Spanish lessons are designed for learners of Spanish as a foreign language, and I have experience teaching students from different countries and cultural backgrounds.

My approach is highly conversational and interactive. From the very first lesson, you start speaking Spanish. The goal is to learn grammar naturally through communication, not through memorization—so grammar is acquired in context while you use the language in real conversation.
