Teaching English as a Foreign Language - Classes with Teacher Nada
From 41.61 C$ /h
My name is Nada and I am a qualified English Teacher. I have a master's degree in linguistics, TEFL, and a CELTA certificate. I have experience teaching children as young as 8 years old, young adults (16–25), and adults (20–60). I also have experience teaching 1:1 and online to speakers of different languages.
In my career, I've taught general English, business English, as well as specific exam preparation. Although I am experienced when it comes to using more "traditional" course books as a guide when teaching general English (e.g., Headway and English File), I take pride in my diverse, applied, and modern methodology when teaching English as a foreign language. In my work, I often use National Geographic as a base, which, when supplemented with additional suitable activities and authentic materials, promotes a communicative approach and project-based learning. This gives younger learners enough space and motivation when learning more "serious" lessons (e.g., grammar or pronunciation).
My 1:1 lessons are often tailored and adjusted to each learner's learning needs and learning style, from visual to kinesthetic, auditory, and writing/reading learning styles. I often take my students' interests into consideration when building a strong lesson plan to support their learning journey.
I am currently expanding my horizons and looking for new clients with different backgrounds. Please do not hesitate to get in touch.

About Me
I am a dedicated and well-rounded teacher, and I speak English and Croatian. I have a degree in Cultural Studies and Linguistics, and I teach English and yoga. Apart from teaching, mindfulness, and languages, I am also very passionate about travel and hospitality. In the past, I worked as a food tour guide, and I have experience working in hotels/hostels, and tour operations offices.
My favourite subjects at university were dialectology, phonetics and phonology, Czech language, and ethnolinguistic-related projects. I graduated with thesis about names of months in Slavic languages. In time, I also developed an interest in English teaching and language acquisition. I enjoy teaching functional language, pronunciation, and speaking skills. It is a rewarding career that helps students open many doors.
I love teaching students who are open-minded and want to learn. I also understand the necessity of being compassionate with students, and have the ability to make them feel confident throughout their learning process - the latter is sometimes the most important aspect of my teaching approach.
