In the first lesson, I provide a detailed assessment of every student. I start by gauging what my student feels they need help with and what they see as their strengths and weaknesses. Then, together, we will come up with a detailed study plan.

I have tried and tested methods of preparing students for their exams whether it be helping them understand essay technique, close reading of texts, understanding literary techniques, preparing revision material or learning how to speak and/or write persuasively. According to the needs of the student, I can also assign homework so that the student can maintain their engagement with the topic until the next session.

I believe everyone learns differently, and it is my responsibility as a tutor to understand the tutee's learning style so that I can tailor my lessons to the student at hand. This gives them a better chance at grasping linguistic and literary concepts, and, as a result, reaching their full potential.

About Me

I have first-class honours degrees in English Literature (BA), and Comparative Literature (MA) from King's College London.

I have six years of experience as a tutor and classroom teacher of English Language and Literature within secondary and primary educational institutions. I have also taught students attending international and independent institutions such as the International Baccalaureate.

I love the French language and pass this on to my students when I teach. Lots of speaking, listening to everyday conversations in various contexts, French songs, practising grammar and new vocabulary. Suitable for school children or adults.
English as a second language is another speciality of mine. I make my lessons interesting and fun. Speaking is the most important part but also writing notes as it is easier to remember afterwards. I can design tailored English lessons Online. In these lessons, I select exercises and make explanations in line with the students' learning goals and interests. These can include Skills related tasks: reading, writing, speaking and listening exercises; Controlled practice exercises from English Grammar in Use and other Student books.
For these lessons, students receive a handout before class with the target exercises and language.
Lessons are conducted with a PowerPoint presentation to make it engaging and interesting.
