Calculations are a necessary and fundamental element (pun intended) of Advanced and University Level Chemistry and it is best to be well-acquainted with the requisite formulae and equations prior to starting your AS studies as it can become rather messy! It also seems to be the topic most students find challenging.

All UK Exam Boards examine an almost identical application of the calculations required to meet the syllabuses. The calculations demonstrated in A2 are an extension to what is established during AS; the content may be more comprehensive in A2 but the general application is not dissimilar.

To obtain the most from this class students should be familiar with CGP’s Complete Course (relative to their exam board, e.g. AQA, OCR, ... ) [AS or A2 edition]- in particular, the chapters outlining chemical calculations.

I am a qualified and experienced mathematics tutor. Graduated from the Free University of Brussels in 2011, I started my career by teaching remedial courses in different schools in Brussels. I then specialized in individual academic support by following educational training at the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
