My approach to tutoring is simple but highly effective. I discover what the students strengths and weaknesses are and therefore understand how to adapt my teaching style to suit their needs. I develop a climate of calm, patience and trust, but with a high level of expectation. A simple lesson plan would be to tackle and reteach a students area of concern. This is not through rote teaching but by breaking down the topic into its simplest components and then rebuilding the topic back up to the level of complexity that needs to be understood. This is then backed up with mini assessments within a lesson to gauge the students learning. Finally, extended homework tasks can be set to help embed the learning that took place in the lesson.
