This class is a fun and simple way to learn the basics of music. We cover how to read notes, understand rhythms, and explore key elements of music theory like melody, harmony, and form. Students also listen to and discuss different styles of music—from classical to modern hits—to see how music connects to culture and emotion. About Me
Being an educator is a vital profession. I want my students to leave my lessons feeling inspired and confident in their abilities. I strive to give them the tools and support they need to succeed both inside and outside my classroom.
Education
I’m a senior at Howard University, majoring in Psychology with a minor in Sociology. I have experience tutoring elementary and middle school students in English and Math, and I love helping students build confidence in their learning.
I originally came to Howard as an Elementary Education major and gained hands-on experience teaching and observing a kindergarten class. I also tutored a second grader last school year, focusing on Math and English.
In addition to academics, I have a strong background in music. I’ve played the violin for 10 years and studied classical voice at Howard University, which has strengthened my patience, focus, and creativity—skills I bring into every tutoring session.
My goal as a tutor is to make learning engaging and supportive. I want my students to leave each session feeling inspired, confident, and equipped with the tools they need to succeed both inside and outside the classroom.
