POP
Almost everything can fit into the category of popular music, so students can play any song they want. We often play movie soundtracks and famous songs from the field of pop, rock and folk. We learn to play from notes and chord symbols.

JAZZ
Students learn the basics of jazz harmony. We start with II-V-I progressions, then we add tensions (9, 11, 13, etc.) to the chords. We immediately apply the acquired basics to well-known jazz and blues standards (Autumn leaves, Fly me to the moon, etc.). We also learn proper phrasing and overall perception of rhythm, which is very important in jazz.

CLASSICAL
When teaching classical music, we work primarily to ensure that students play naturally and that the music really speaks. Gradually we learn to relax our hands and develop a quality tone. We play compositions from the Baroque, Classicism, Romanticism and 20th century.

About Me

I'm professional pianist, composer and piano teacher from the Czech Republic. I have been playing the piano for over 20 years.

Education:
I studied piano and composition at the Jaroslav Ježek jazz Conservatory in Prague. The study was focused on classical and jazz music. I have been taught by a number of excellent professors, most of all I appreciate the opportunity to study with the legendary Czech jazz pianist and composer, Karel Růžička. During my studies, I also attended other useful classes, such as drumming, solo singing, conducting, studio practice or notation programs.

Further studies:
In the years 2016 - 2020, I studied piano pedagogy at the Methodical Center at the Janáček Academy of Performing Arts in Brno. I attended classes with great professors - classical piano with prof. Alena Vlasáková, jazz with Jiří Levíček and composition with Vincenc Kummer.

Experience:
In 2017, I visited the University of North Texas - College of Music in the USA for a week, where I also attended the rehearsal of the legendary One O'Clock Lab Band. In addition to my studies, I participate in various courses (Karel Velebný's Summer Jazz Workshop, Czech Jazz Workshop with Ondřej Pivec, International Master Interpretation Courses at the Janáček Academy of Performing Arts, etc.).
As a pianist I have gone through a number of bands and orchestras, where I have played music of various genres (pop, rock, jazz, funky, gospel, worship, etc.).
I also composed an arrangement for the Czech version of the anthem of World Youth Day in Krakow 2016.

In the past, I have struggled with hand pain caused by playing the piano. For six months I had therapy sessions with an excellent music physiotherapist, Marta Nemcova, PhD., who helped me solve my health problems. I removed bad habits from my piano technique, learned about sitting, posture, practice strategy, stretching, etc. So I am able to give my students very good advice on how to prevent these problems and offer solutions.

I have 8 years of experience teaching music, I have taught at music schools and also as a private teacher. I taught 100+ students, I ran my own small private piano school in Brno, Czech republic.

I firmly believe in the importance of knowing how to read music and this is exactly what I teach first, obviously adapting the method to the age of my students: knowing how to read music is knowing one more language, which, if learned well, won’t ever be forgotten (like riding a bicycle!) and it is an invaluable wealth. Both programs can be combined depending on the focus and the profile of the student, or in case the student would like to go deeper in one of the previously mentioned subjects there is the opportunity to take an independent course of specialization on the desired topic. At the end of the semester every student will perform at the winter and summer concerts held every year and will have the possibility of making a recording session with the material worked during the term. With this, the student will not only be able to see his progress and work, but also will give him a direct experience of performing and working on a live or studio recording session, which is a fundamental part of the developing process of every musician.

I am a Spanish pianist and composer (MMus graduate from Codarts Rotterdam in both directions) with many years of teaching experience, and also very active in performing in various contexts.

I teach online via Zoom, using software which allows you to see the exact keys I'm playing on my keyboard.

My teaching method is to focus on whatever type of music the student loves most, and to build from there. I believe that many people give up their dream of playing an instrument simply because they aren't inspired enough, so my goal is to instill a love for music, whatever that means personally for each individual student.

Everyone learns differently and has their own pace and rhythm. I have some students who like to have a regular weekly or biweekly lesson, and others who just get in touch once in a while when they have digested the previous lesson and feel ready to build on it. Whatever the case, I am very flexible and we can figure out what works best for you.

A bit about me:

Originally honing my skills on the British jazz scene and holding residencies in restaurants and bars around the country, I then went on to tour the world playing on cruise ships, hotels and festivals. I returned to London to complete my master's in jazz piano at the Guildhall School of Music, and during this time performed regularly at Ronnie Scotts, The Vortex and many other venues across the UK. I then spent two years in South America learning about salsa and Cuban music. I now mainly work as a transcriber, writing sheet music for all instruments including full Big Band scores. I have also worked extensively in musical theatre, most recently as musical director for 'Jersey Boys', and on the first US national tour of 'Summer: the Donna Summer Musical'.
