About Me
Hi, I am a professional jazz pianist and educator of roughly twenty years. I have toured most of the world performing and educating individuals on the jazz idiom, a music I am deeply passionate about, I spend nearly every moment of my life dedicated to the music, and while I don't expect this of my students, I feel they should always expect this as an inspiring and engaging element of my teaching style.
Education
I began studying piano at age six. After seven years of classical studies, I went on to study with New England Conservatory's Charlie Banacos where I spent four years prior to college studying jazz theory.
Undergrad: Crane School of music; Jazz Theory 2006
Graduate School: North Carolina Central University; Jazz Composition and Arranging 2010
Experience / Qualifications
I have been an internationally touring jazz pianist and educator for nearly twenty years. I am presently a member of Delfeayo Marsalis's Uptown Jazz Orchestra , the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra as well as the pianist for singer Cyrille Aimee and bassist John Brown. I have worked as a substitue for many groups including the Branford Marsalis Quartet, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Nenna Freelon and Philip Harper.
As an educator, I am a former jazz piano and theory instructor of East Carolina University and St, Augustine University in North Carolina, In 2017 I was hosted as an artist in residence at the Utrecht Conservatory in the Netherlands and presently, I am the jazz piano instructor at Southern Mississippi University, Inclusive in my collegiate background are a series of masters classes I have taught at institutions around the world during my time spent on tour.
