About Me
I believe on learning by ear, specially the standards repertoire, but not only. I really believe we play way better with our ears than with our eyes. But of course it´s important to understand and have to ability and knowledge to know why and how the music goes from one place to another.
I like to talk and get into practice with those items. I also believe it´s important to have fun on practicing. I don´t believe in practicing some thing everyday or closed methods. It´s important to develop our creativity and imagination. Finding a way to practice our main problems it´s a huge challenge but should be fun at the end of the day.

Education
I teach guitar, ensemble and theory since 1999. I run the school Hot Clube de Portugal since 2009 and it´s also the oldest jazz club in europe still working (since 1948). I was in charge of jazz guitar department of ESML (Escola de música superior de Lisboa), from 2009 till 2017 in bachelor and masters degree. I have masters degree in jazz and a "specialist" diploma given by ESML.
Experience / Qualifications
Besides teaching my main goal is to play. I have 11 records as a leader (that includes also the Hot Club de Portugal 7tet and duet Mano a Mano). I´ve been playing since the late 90´s with a lot of portuguese jazz players but also with international musicians such: Benny Golson, Donald Harrison, Peter Bernstein, Omer Avital, Seamus Blake, John Ellis, Perico Sambeat, Chris Cheek, Paulinho Braga, Jesse Davis, Herb Geller, Miguel Zénon, and others.
