I offer private lessons of classical double bass and jazz as well as electric bass and guitar lessons on all styles of music for children and adults of all ages and all levels. My priority is that everyone takes pleasure in playing while progressing. My teaching is based on personalized musical follow-up: Discovery, Leisure, Methodical learning and Improvement. The repertoire will be chosen according to the desires of each student.

I am convinced that the theoretical fundamentals, remain essential to be accomplished as a musician. However, it remains obvious to me that the practice of the instrument goes hand in hand with a more theoretical teaching. It is for this reason that my students touch the instrument from the first lesson.

My teaching allows to acquire the musical fundamentals while having fun, without demotivation.

About Me
I have always been passionate about music, besides my two parents are musicians. So I grew up surrounded by various musical styles, from jazz to classical through blues and funk. Growing up, I therefore very naturally moved towards learning music. I started with the classic double bass, before I started jazz and electric bass. The urge to put myself on the guitar came later.

For me, music must above all be a pleasure. It is therefore very important for me that his teaching go in this direction. My priority is that each of my students practice with joy. It is for this reason that I adapt the repertoire according to everyone's wishes. Then, learning the musical fundamentals is important to progress and play with freedom, but this slightly more theoretical teaching must be done without any demotivation. This is what I set out to do, in passing, among other things, by more "innovative" techniques: body rhythm, for example.
Education
I studied the classic double bass at the Conservatoire Supérieur in Düsseldorf, in Germany and then at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional in Boulogne-Billancourt. At the same time, I studied at the Charles Münch Conservatory (Conservatory of the 11th arrondissement of Paris) electric bass and jazz double bass. I also participated in many courses alongside Dominique Di Piazza or Gilles Cocquard. I continued by learning the guitar, which seemed to me to be a logical continuation, already playing two string instruments (double bass and electric bass).
I graduated from higher education.
Experience / Qualifications
I had the pleasure of playing with several professional orchestras such as the Massy Opera, the Ostinato Orchestra ... etc. But also to participate as a bass player / double bass player in various jazz quartets like "Quatre, Trois, Deux, Un", in a big band led by Laurent Cugny or in a jazz show with Dominique Di Piazza.

I have, on numerous occasions, replaced the lessons of my teachers of classical double bass and jazz or electric bass in Paris. I also gave, for two years, courses in particular in a province close to Paris. My teaching adapts as much to children as to adults. My priority is that everyone has fun while progressing.

While creating a repertoire, we will work the ear, rhythm, technique.
I focus on practice, improvisation, and the relationship between you and your instrument in order to have fun on your bass.

Okay, but what are we doing?

The basics:

- the silence
- harmony (scales, chords, intervals)
- rhythm (binary, ternary, swing, shuffle)
- the sound (technique, nuance)
- the coding of the English chords (A = la, E- = E minor, etc.)
- the musical culture and the different ways of listening to music

A choice:

- improvisation (learning to play without partition, becoming able to play with anyone, anytime)
- group music in general (the modern bass, the different roles of the instruments in a group)
- jazz (standards, swing, notions of harmonies and improvisation)
- rock, funk (notions of groove, rhythmic placement, search for sounds, pentatonic scales)
- music games for children

The instrument remains a tool to make music, so we will work to become a MUSICIAN (with the help of a bass guitar).

Any age, any level (to be evaluated during the first class)

I preferably receive at home, or at least near my home (Paris EST). Having a busy musical life moves are to be avoided as far as possible.

Do not hesitate to contact me for further information!

Additional Information:

It is important for your teacher to match you musically (unless otherwise, if you want to fill in gaps, or discover a new genre). That's why I present myself in a few lines, so that you get an idea of the kind of bassist that I am:
I started bass more than ten years ago, I first discovered the instrument alone (self-taught training).
I later played in several Rock formations. Rock I was interested in Funk (style in which the bass plays a key role). I then became more and more interested in improvisation and therefore Jazz music. I took two years of classes at the Conservatoire du 9ème arrondissement in Paris before joining the IMEP (formerly American School of Modern Music). Currently, I play in several bands: a jazz / funk band and a jazz / rock band.

My influences (in bulk): Jaco Pastorius, Weather Report Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea, George Duke, Miles Davis, Funkadelic / Parliament, James Brown, Prince, George Benson, John Scofield, Hendrix, Zappa, Stanley Clarke, Al di meola, Paco de lucia, Bob marley, Marcus Miller, Kenny Garett, Bill Evans, Lettuce, Brecker Brothers, Return to Forever, Mahavishnu, Led Zep, Dire Straits, Rolling Stones, The Aphex Twin, Squarepusher, Munir Hossn, Matthew Garrisson , Hadrien Feraud, Ron Carter, Linley Martha, Maceo Parker, Paul Chambers, Mike Stern, Bob Berg and many more!
