Guitar Lessons: Jazz, Blues, Popular, Rock & Classical. Beginner/ Intermediate/ Advanced
From 80.63 C$ /h
I teach fundamental technique, musicianship and theory skills to guitar students across all popular styles of music and ability levels. These include: picking techniques, fingerstyle, ornamentation (e.g. string bends, hammer-ons, slides, glissando, trills, tremolo etc), controlling intonation, theory/harmony/chord voicings alongside developing transcription and ear training skills.
My lessons incorporate the above mentioned sight-reading, improvisation and harmony areas in addition to the preparation of repertoire for upcoming auditions, assessments and showcases. I also advise on developing an individual, quality practice routine designed around their own musical goals.
Current and previous students study repertoire across a range of styles including ABRSM classical grades, Ranieri books 1-2, bebop jazz guitar, solo arrangements, Asian-rock/pop, blues in addition to composition/arranging techniques and ABRSM theory.

I'm a guitarist and composer, combining influences from modern jazz, fusion, blues, pop, classical and rock. I have taught guitar for many years, including a vast range abilities, ages and styles.
I currently teach guitar privately (based in Oxford) and within higher education in addition to my performance/recording work. Previously, I worked in a number of colleges as a sessional lecturer teaching guitar and lecturing music improvisation, theory and music analysis.
I graduated from Birmingham Conservatoire in 2007 and have played alongside guitarists including Larry Coryell and Martin Taylor. I have a passion for ongoing learning and recently completed a music composition PhD at the University of Salford.
I have released five solo albums to date and a series of solo guitar videos. I'm currently working on promoting a solo jazz guitar and disseminating my research in Japan and Australia.
