Learning the guitar can be challenging but fun and once the basic skills are grasped, the world is your musical oyster,! I have been a professional guitarist performing nationwide and internationally for the past fifteen years and during that time I have also taught guitar to hundreds of students, be it to school age or the retired.
My fun and friendly teaching approach will help give you the confidence to play your best and I always structure my lessons around the musical interests of the student, no matter the genre. I have taught from the Rockschool, Trinity Rock and Pop and Yamaha pop syllabi’s, as well as the Trinity and Associated Board for classical players. I like to encourage improvisation at every level of playing, which aids creativity and leads to composition and before you know it, you’re playing your own music!
I am currently teaching remotely and welcoming players of all ages and abilities!

About Me
I am a 36 year old professional guitarist based in Manchester with fifteen years experience of teaching guitar, bass guitar and ukulele. I have a relaxed,, easy going and friendly approach to teaching, which is both informative and yields positive results and that’s what makes learning fun! I enjoy interacting, motivating and boosting the confidence of budding musicians and tailoring intermediate players to help them reach a more advanced stage of musicianship.
I have worked as a peripatetic guitar teacher for two local authorities and have a solid background with children.I used to run the guitar department at the Yamaha Music School and I have taught at many private music schools since, to both children and adults. My lessons are tailored to suit the student and their pretences on what style and genre they like to play. I have taught from the Rockschool, Trinity and Yamaha Pop courses and the Trinity and Associated Board classical syllabus, should there be a willing to study and take graded exams. I can also teach music theory and specialise in improvisation and composition too.

Experience / Qualifications
Since qualifying at university I have toured the UK extensively in theatre productions, performed in tribute shows and played at many wedding and corporate functions in a range of line up and settings. I was known in the North West for my acoustic residences, as well as performing original music in rock and folk outfits.
After a long stint of teaching and touring the UK I longed for a change of scene and worked on some of the most famous and luxurious cruise ships, travelling the world and playing music on the high seas! Now I have returned to the UK after five years of musical endeavours and ready to teach some great new students!
