Cajon Lessons Online — Technique, Groove and Song Accompaniment

From 42 C$ /h

Learn cajon through individual online lessons that connect clear technique with practical musical accompaniment. I am a professional percussionist and teacher with 15+ years of teaching experience, 18+ years of musical and performance practice, and more than 1,000 students taught.

Lessons can cover posture, hand position, bass and high strokes, coordination and groove. We work with rhythmic patterns and accompaniment for pop, rock and flamenco, adapting the material to your experience and musical interests. You can develop a steady pulse, phrasing, musical interaction and improvisation.

Beginners need no previous musical experience. Intermediate and advanced players can refine their sound, improve coordination and explore how to shape an accompaniment that supports a song.

Lessons take place on Zoom in English or Russian, for adults and children. Video feedback, a shared Google Doc and lesson recordings may support your practice when useful.
Extra information
Have your cajon ready and use a stable internet connection with Zoom. Tell me your experience and the styles or songs you would like to work on.

My name is Dario. I’m from Utrera (Sevilla) and I’m cajón flamenco teacher. I would like to share with you my experience as a flamenco musician where I’ve played with differents artists (Israel Galván, Melchor de Marchena, Concha Buika) in Flamenco Bienal (Seville) or Gnawa and World Music Festival (Essaouira). I’ve created my own cajón flamenco method. I’d like to show you the flamenco base so you can know this art completly. If you have any doubt you can write to me! I love sharing knowledge about music and art.

Drum lessons with David offer both private and group drum experiences. After completing his studies with the famed Brian Kirk (drummer for the Pointer Sisters, and many others) in 2004 David continued to be an active performer and began to discover another passion in life: Teaching. David’s instructional style utilizes building a vocabulary of drum rudiments and applying them to the songs that interest students most.

Hi there! I'm Guillermo, Spanish Drummer based in The Hague and a teacher of drums and cajón for all ages and levels.
I like to put a strong focus on helping my students to become the musicians they want to be, whether that means playing along to their favourite songs at home, going on tour around the world or recording music in studios! In order to achieve this I like to make sure the lessons have a good balance between fun personal musical challenges and the various techniques (and bits of theory if needed) that will help you enjoy the most your time behind the drums (or siting on yout cajón!)

Learn Flamenco, body percussion, cajon and practical tools to be more creative with your instrument!

In these percussion groups we would use Konnakol, an Indian classical system created to understand rhythm, it mixes languaje and mathematics in a way that allow us to understand music in a very intuitive, practical and fun way.

About me:

I'm a professional percussion and flute player from Andalucía that plays flamenco and world music with 15 years of musical experience.
Ive played in different fusion projects as a percussion player in Netherlands, Spain, India, Switzerland...
The last years I've been going to India focusing my studies on the relationship between Indian classical music and flamenco. It is in Mumbai where I started studying tabla and Bansuri at Vrindaban Gurukul since then I realized the great value that indian classical music has as a pedagogical tool and now that I moved to Zurich I'm looking forward to create a group where we can grow together.

I also studied Music therapy in Malaga and in Rotterdam so my focus while teaching is in creating a good relationship with art and the instrument, reprogramming how to learn in a natural and intuitive way and very important, to have fun and express yourself so music becomes an extension of you.
