About Me

Hello! I am a Brazilian Portuguese teacher for foreigners and a Portuguese/Language Studies student, currently in the final year of my degree.

I like to teach in a simple, practical, and personalized way. In my classes, we mainly focus on communication and the Portuguese used in everyday life, always according to each student's level and goals.

We can work on conversation, pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, reading, and writing. I try to create a relaxed and friendly environment where students feel comfortable speaking and learning.

I have also completed courses in English, Spanish, French, and Italian, which helps me better understand the difficulties of learning a new language.

My name is Nicolas, and I am a Brazilian Portuguese teacher with eight years of teaching experience. I have been speaking Portuguese for about ten years now. I learned the language while living in Brazil for several long periods, both for study and work. I am currently living there again.

Having also gone through the process of learning to speak this language, I am well aware of the different stages my students go through. This helps a lot.

My lessons are tailor-made to achieve personal goals and are adapted to the specific needs of each student.

Practice is prioritized throughout the learning process in order to gain autonomy as quickly as possible. Grammar is also covered, depending on the student's level.

I’m a PhD language educator with over a decade of experience teaching Spanish, Portuguese, and Academic English at every level — from absolute beginners to advanced university students and professionals. I earned my Ph.D. in Latin American Literature and Culture from the University of Texas at Austin, one of the leading institutions for language pedagogy in the U.S. Since 2024, I have held a position as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor.

I’ve taught at major universities including the University of Michigan, University of Texas-Austin, Villanova, and Thomas Jefferson University.
