My courses can be provided in a tailored way. If you are interested in my course, you can tell me your expectations for the incoming class. In this way, I can prepare for a class that suits your personal needs and helps you the most. I sincerely welcome people with different intentions, either for HSK preparation, travelling or just learning with interest. And I can teach people at different levels. We can start from the very basic tones, pinyin, simple vocabulary, sentence structure, etc. and go all the way to the advanced level. If you are interested in Chinese culture, I can also share my knowledge on Chinese history/social networking protocol with you, and many other aspects, depending on your interests.

I'm a native Chinese speaker. I would like to share my knowlege with patience to help those who want to learn/improve their Chinese, especially in terms of speaking, reading and writing. I graduated from a top-tier university in China and came to Switzerland one year ago to continue my master study at ETH. I am fluent in English so don't worry if you know very little about Chinese, I will try my best to help you make progress!

For speaking, each class revolves around a specific topic. The topic can be either daily situations (e.g. greetings, introduce yourself, hobbies, travel, movies, etc.), or more formal situations (e.g., give a speech, make presentations, interview). Depending on your levels and needs, I can be your speaking partner and help you correct mistakes and speak more native Chinese. And I can summarize all the useful expressions and sentence structure under a specific situation for you.

For reading, each class revolves around a short passage. The passage is written by native Chinese and I will guide you through every sentence and every word. The passage is selected based on your language level and I will explain it in detail (meaning, grammar, useful expressions, etc.).

For writing, I can show you how to build sentences in Chinese and write a sample passage for you in class. If you have passages written by yourself and want me to have a look at it, I'm willing to help you make corrections and polish the content.

About Me

I 'm a Chinese international student in Switzerland, at ETHz. I'm currently a master student in environmental sciences. I'm very approachable and easy-going. This is the basic version of my Chinese lessons which is suited for motivated learners who are committed to spending 2-4 high quality hours per week for self study outside of the class. See my profile for the advanced version where I offer even more additional materials and more extra feedback for a more immersive learning experience. The advanced version is suited for people who want to progress faster with guidance.

The general structure lesson revolves around review from previous sessions, assigned exercises and the new chapter of textbook. After the lesson you will receive exercises and extra audiovisual materials for the theme covered during lesson through Google Classroom (free). It is encouraged to leave questions about the language on Google classroom as well.

It is possible to book 1,5 or 10 lessons per time. Following reservation is ensured when discussed and booked two weeks ahead of time. Meeting time is confirmed minimum 5-7 days in advance and cancellation is free until 3 days before.
