About Me

Hi! I’m Kyo, a native Korean speaker born in Seoul, Korea with over 6 years tutoring experience while I was living in New Zealand, Australia and the UK. I’m currently working as a UX/UI designer based in Seoul.

I love getting to know new people and learning about different cultures. This is one of the reasons I teach Korean after work, to share my experience and knowledge with people who are looking to broaden their horizons and learn a new language in a fun and friendly way.

I was born and grew up in Korea until high school. Having a bachelor degree in Architectural Design, I graduated the University of Auckland in Auckland, New Zealand.

I am a big fan of Korean dramas, and I will use them as examples to show you how Korean is spoken in real life. This will help us develop a deeper understanding of the language and its nuances.

I will teach you how to speak Korean in both formal and informal settings, so that you can understand real Korean more effectively. My lessons are primarily designed for those who wish to improve their conversational Korean skills, and I will teach you how to speak in a fluent and natural way. 1) Conversation-focused lessons:
The main reason for learning a foreign language is usually to communicate. Even students who had no prior knowledge of Korean can now converse exclusively in Korean with me. We practice forming natural sentences, slowly and at each student’s own pace.

2) Homework and assessments:
Without homework or tests, it is very difficult to make progress in a language. I assign homework tailored to each student’s level and pace, and give a small vocabulary quiz at the end of each chapter. (During very busy periods, the amount of homework is adjusted, so don’t worry!)

3) Culture:
Language is closely connected to culture. In my lessons, we cover various topics related to Korean society, culture, history, economy, and politics.
