Hi there! My name is Altea. I’m a qualified and experienced teacher with over eight years of experience teaching students of all ages, levels, and backgrounds.
I’m a native Italian speaker, and I lived in the UK for eight years, where I taught Italian in individual, group, and online lessons. I have supported students preparing for A-Level Italian, professionals working with the Italian market, and people planning to travel or move to Italy.

I teach Italian (and English) using the Direct Communicative Method. This means we focus on speaking and understanding Italian in real, everyday situations. From the very beginning, you will learn Italian by actively using it. Our lessons will take place almost entirely in Italian. If you’re a beginner, we can use a little English at first, but the goal is to build your confidence so you can speak naturally and comfortably. We will also work on grammar, pronunciation, reading, listening, and writing, according to your needs.

I have experience teaching all ages and levels: from primary school children to professionals, in companies, language centres, and public schools. I’m also very comfortable teaching online, and I use shared drives, digital materials, and interactive tools to make the lessons clear, organised, and enjoyable. I provide all useful digital resources, but you’re welcome to use a physical textbook if you prefer.

Education

Bachelor of Arts in Music, Technology and Performance, De Montfort University, UK. Previously completed classical studies at Liceo Classico, providing a strong foundation in language, literature, and analytical skills.

Experience / Qualifications

I hold a CELTA qualification to teach English and a CEDILS certification to teach Italian as a foreign language.
I have over eight years of teaching experience in the UK and internationally, working with students of all ages and levels in private lessons, language centres, companies, and public schools.
