About Me
Ciao! I’m Federica – a native Italian speaker, born in Rome and raised in the beautiful Marche region, near the Adriatic Sea. At 18, I moved to the UK, where I completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD in cognitive psychology with a focus on how people learn. I spent several years working in the education sector, both Higher Education and Further Education institutions.
I’ve been teaching Italian for over 15 years now, and it’s truly my passion. I love helping people connect with the Italian language in a natural, confidence-building way. Whether you’re learning for travel, work, exams, or simply for fun, I’ll create personalised lessons that match your level, learning style, and goals.
Over the years, I’ve developed a unique approach that works especially well for English-speaking learners. My lessons are grounded in real-life scenarios and everyday communication, with grammar introduced in a way that’s clear, practical, and never overwhelming. I understand the common stumbling blocks English speakers face, and I’ll guide you through them with clarity and encouragement. In my teaching, I draw on my background in psychology and my understanding of how languages are acquired through a combination of explicit and implicit learning.
If you're looking for a warm, structured, and supportive learning experience, I’d love to help you on your Italian journey.

Experience / Qualifications
I hold a PhD in Cognitive Psychology (learning and memory) and have over 15 years’ experience teaching Italian to adult learners. As well as being a private tutor, during my academic career I worked as a tutor and lecturer in higher education, and later expanded into further education.
I’ve taught Italian to learners of all levels and backgrounds—from complete beginners to advanced speakers—across a wide range of contexts, including one-to-one, small groups, and larger classroom settings.
My teaching is also supported by formal pedagogical training, including an Initial Teaching Award (a foundational qualification in adult education).
