About Me
Yia sas! Hello everyone! I'm Anna, originally from Corfu, Greece. I’ve been calling England home for over 20 years now, and this has given me a deep understanding of the language, culture, and the unique atmosphere of the country. As a native Greek speaker with a passion for languages and teaching, I bring both experience and enthusiasm to our lessons. Having grown up surrounded by Greek culture and being fluent in both Greek and English, I can easily help bridge the two languages.
Although Greek may seem challenging due to its different alphabet, complex grammar, and pronunciation, it is certainly achievable with dedication and consistent practice. A common question among students is how long it will take to speak and hold a conversation, and how many lessons are needed to reach that point.
There’s no "one-size-fits-all" answer to this, as learning Greek varies by individual. Some learners may reach basic conversational skills within a few months of focused study, while others might need a year or more to get to the same level. Progress depends on factors like your learning style, previous language experience, and how much time you can dedicate to study.
Many students choose to take 2-3 lessons per week if their schedule allows, which helps maintain steady progress while balancing other commitments. Others may start with just one lesson per week and gradually increase as they gain confidence in the language. These are general guidelines, as results will vary based on personal circumstances.
Remember, learning a language is a gradual process that can include ups and downs, so it’s important to stay patient, be kind to yourself, set realistic goals, and practice consistently to keep progressing.
In my spare time, I enjoy taking walks by the river, reading a good book, watching films, cooking, and continuing to educate myself. I’m also still taking lessons in French and Italian to further my language skills.
What to Expect from a Lesson with Me:
Many people agree that the best way to learn a language is by immersing yourself in a country where it’s spoken. Since this isn’t always possible, the next best way is through interactive and engaging conversations. I believe in creating a supportive and engaging learning environment where students feel comfortable to practice and make mistakes. My lessons offer a relaxed, and supportive environment where mistakes are celebrated as part of the learning process. Learning should be enjoyable and motivating, so expect books, level-appropriate short stories, lively discussions, and plenty of laughter!
In our first session, I will assess your language level through casual conversation and work with you to create a personalized, goal-oriented approach that aligns with your objectives in Greek.

Teaching isn't just about grammar and vocabulary; it's about connecting with people and understanding their individual needs. With 25 years of experience teaching both Greek and English, let me tell you! It has been an incredible journey! I've had the privilege of teaching Greek to learners from all walks of life, whether they were planning a brief visit to Greece, relocating for work, or settling there permanently. In teaching English, I've worked with adults focused on advancing their careers, as well as children and young adults preparing for exams and language certifications.
