Hi everyone,

I'm Mathieu, 40 years old, from Paris, France. I'm a full-time professional french teacher. I lived in Shanghai for more than 5 years where I used to teach in french companies and language institutes.
Now, I mainly teach private classes as a freelance, one-to-one. I have a 12-year of teaching experience in China and France, face-to-face and online through Skype or other similar tools. I'm also a teacher in a business school here in Paris. You can check the comments that a few students of mine left here on my profile, to see that I'm a serious and competent teacher.

I'm fluent in English and speak intermediate Chinese Mandarin.

I have all the materials necessary ready for you, self-made PDF, audio files and much more. I always adapt my classes to the student's needs. We can focus on what's most important to you.

Contact me for any further information, I'm ready to discuss your goals and my teaching method with you so that you can make up your mind.

French teacher for foreigners and native French speaker, with a Master's degree in French as a Foreign Language and 21 years of experience teaching in private schools (Montpellier, Lyon, Minneapolis, Salvador da Bahia, Lisbon, Berlin, Barcelona, Brussels). I offer private lessons in: grammar, syntax, vocabulary, speaking and writing, phonetics, conversation, current events, DELF and DALF exam preparation, etc. I can also provide knowledge of Francophone literature, the humanities, theater, and other arts. Speaking English, Spanish, and Brazilian Portuguese also allows me to better understand students' difficulties.

My courses are based on listening to learners' needs, using effective teaching methods, and employing a dynamic approach and immersion in the French language! Of course, learners are expected to do some independent work, without using AI or any other application, in order to learn more effectively, practice, and exercise their own brainpower! And there's no age limit to learning!
Take the step and learn or improve your French enthusiastically with me!

Holder of a Master's degree in Letters and endowed with a solid experience in private lessons, I provide French lessons for students wishing to:
- consolidate their bases in grammar, spelling
- improve their language skills (allophone students)
- improve their speaking skills (conversation classes)
-profect the written expression
- prepare for ECR exams
- prepare for the written examinations at the end of the studies (maturity, certificate of completion)
- help with the writing of works of maturity (or other works of end of studies), of dissertation
- work on argumentative texts
- acquire a method to analyze literary texts
- learn how to perform bibliographic research

The course material is a Google Docs document that I create in which my explanations, possible links, exercises appear. By reading it regularly, progress will be faster. It can also be used in addition to other documents (files printed by school teachers and/or books) and has many advantages: automatic updating, downloadable on tablets and smartphones, simultaneous monitoring of what is writing.

For help with writing:

The objective is above all to acquire effective tools. The student will thus be able to learn to structure his ideas, argue coherently (and convincingly) and enrich his vocabulary. It is essential for me to have written work from the student between each lesson.

For analyzes of oral literary texts:

In order to optimize the time available (and to put ourselves in conditions closest to oral exams), we choose together an extract from a work that the student will have previously prepared before the lesson. This would take around 20 minutes at most, and ideally just a little before the meeting time. If necessary, I have the habit of taking a paragraph at random which would serve as a basis for analyzing a passage.

For the corrections of end of studies work:

so that the meeting with the student is at the most profitable, I ask him to send me his writings before the meeting.

Apart from my presence with the student, any course involves a preparation time before and after the lesson, including the work that I correct. My goal is to design an individualized course, so I take the time to write detailed comments on corrected work or tips to ensure maximum success for everyone.

For example, an editorial correction can easily be the subject of a detailed commentary of 4 typewritten pages.

For adults (FLE):

In order to optimally prepare the first ones, I take the initiative to inform myself in advance of their objectives / expectations. Whether to practice speaking in everyday life, the professional world or to practice oral presentations, I prepare either PPT or technical sheets in advance that I send by mail ( after booking on the website).

The other alternative is to make a PV of the course that I send (or that I print). Giving importance to keeping a written record on the one hand to better memorize the topics covered, on the other hand to better assimilate the spelling.

Of a general nature, a concrete situation that responds to the learner's needs is the starting point. From this situation, I address the essential grammatical points.

For the past two decades, I've had the privilege of tutoring in both French and English. My students have ranged in age, background, and origin, spanning children, teenagers, adults, professionals, and even seniors aged 85 and above.

You might wonder why I teach both languages. Well, I am bilingual, with American and Swiss/French roots, and I currently reside in Ireland. This unique blend of experiences equips me with a strong and relevant teaching approach. I possess an intimate understanding of both cultures, enabling me to tailor my classes to the specific needs of my students.

My teaching journey began during my time studying social work in French-speaking Switzerland. I started offering private French and English lessons to supplement my income, and I quickly discovered my passion for it. Even after graduating and embarking on a full-time career, I couldn't bear to give up this rewarding activity. I cherished the opportunity to connect with diverse individuals and assist them in achieving their language goals.

In my teaching methodology, interactivity takes center stage. I employ a variety of engaging learning tools, including photos, newspaper articles, music, videos, and more. My approach is highly adaptable, with a focus on addressing each student's unique priorities. Some seek to refine their pronunciation, grammar, and vocabulary, while others require assistance with presentations or speeches for school or work. Some simply aspire to acquire a new language to enrich their general knowledge. I also specialize in teaching younger children, a testament to my educational background and experience.

What you will gain from my courses extends beyond impeccable pronunciation and enhanced vocabulary and grammar. You'll also acquire a profound understanding of the culture associated with each language. When speaking a language, it's essential to appreciate the lifestyle, traditions, and heritage of the nations where it thrives. French and English are spoken as primary languages in numerous countries worldwide, each with its own unique accent and cultural nuances. The learning process is limitless!

In addition to my language instruction, I'm a genealogist and host spiritual (non-religious) seminars in the beautiful West of Ireland. My passion for vegetarian and vegan cuisine adds a flavorful dimension to my life. Furthermore, I hold a degree in Early Childhood Education and have operated a private "Before & Afterschool" facility along with Summer Camps catering to children aged 4 to 12 for many years.

I am genuinely excited about the prospect of meeting and working with you!

I am a trained French teacher with a degree in linguistics. I have been teaching since 2012 and I support candidates in improving their French and preparing for official exams.

The preparation is fully tailored to your level, the date of your exam and the skills you need to strengthen.

We are working on the different challenges:
- listening comprehension;
- understanding of written texts;
- written production;
- oral production.

The goal is not only to improve your French, but also to understand what examiners expect and to learn how to respond effectively to exam instructions.

Depending on your needs, we can work on methodology, organization of ideas, argumentation, grammar, vocabulary, time management and correction of written or oral productions.

Exercises and practice topics may be offered between lessons to track your progress and identify areas that require more work.

As the exam approaches, we can also carry out simulations under conditions close to the real test, particularly for oral production.

Before we begin, simply tell me the diploma and level you are preparing for, the scheduled date of the exam, and the difficulties you wish to work on as a priority.

I offer courses that will allow you to overcome the difficulties you encounter in reading or writing by giving you the text-writing toolkit that school, unfortunately, doesn't provide. I myself had to build this toolkit over the years at university, and I will gladly share it with you so that you can succeed.

Effective reading strategies
Text theory (structure, function, typology...)
General knowledge
Communication Theory

Reading log
Accurate
Text analysis
Characterization

You can take a full course with regular sessions or one-off courses to do specific work such as writing a reading summary.

Lessons can be taken individually or in groups. The methods are flexible to adapt to each individual case.

What matters to me in particular:

motivate my student and give him a learning pace;
encourage their creativity;
to awaken his curiosity;
to forge a friendship with the texts

During this first lesson, you can get a solid idea of my teaching style. I look forward to meeting you.
