About Me

Originally from the US, I have been living and working as an opera singer in Austria for the last 8 years. I have always loved language and loved teaching, so during the pandemic when work stopped, I took a course to be certified as a teacher of English. I am so excited to meet new people and help them become more proficient in English. As somebody who has lived in a foreign country and has travelled for work to many countries where my knowledge of the language was limited, I know the struggles that go into everyday life in a new language. I tailor my teaching specifically to the needs of my students to help them as effectively as possible.

I received a Bachelors in Music (BM) in Vocal Performance at Arizona State University class of 2010 and completed courses in Teaching English as a Foreign Language with The TEFL Org.

My methodology: Learning to structure one's thoughts to express oneself better
My approach is based on a simple observation: success is not achieved through lack of effort, but often through a lack of method and confidence. My role is to transform subjects sometimes perceived as abstract (Philosophy, French) or intimidating (English) into concrete tools for success.

The typical course of a session:
1. Quick diagnosis: We start by identifying the areas of uncertainty from the previous lesson or the difficulties with a specific exercise.
2. Taking action: No boring lectures! We work on concrete exercises, essay plans or oral practice (in English) to "learn by doing".
3. The "Montreal Method": Having worked for two and a half years in Quebec, I use a North American pedagogy that is very focused on encouragement, clear structure and student autonomy.
