About Me

I have always taken an informal approach towards teaching. Throughout my time as an educator, I have attempted to enable students to discover their own ways of learning. For me, the key is to give students the space to push themselves but to do so in a way that is most effective, free from the stresses that learning modern languages often bring.

Education

BA TV and Radio from University of Salford, MA Education from University of Portsmouth. I also studied for my certificate in Effective Online Teaching at University of Oxford.

Experience / Qualifications

I was teaching media production in Liverpool throughout the 1990s. I started teaching basic English conversation when I was living in Spain (2007-2012). I started my own private English school in 2012. In total, I have over 20 years teaching English conversational skills and culture in primary schools, high schools, universities, and private language schools. My highest level of education is masters. I am currently studying for my PhD in Educational Research.

I have an Undergraduate degree, and a Postgraduate Masters degree in Psychology. I am an academic support mentor in Liverpool John Moores and Hope University. I have supported Undergraduate students and Postgraduate PhD students with academic writing.

I have a Postgraduate qualification in Specific learning difficulties, such as dyslexia and teach a multi-sensory language programme which targets grammar, punctuation, spelling and handwriting. I have taught students aged 6- 18 to improve their literacy skills and have received consistently good feedback.

I am a senior ESL/EAP teacher who has been helping students all over the world to reach their learning goals for over 10 years.

I tailor my classes to match your learning needs and style to ensure that you develop as quickly as possible.

Whether you need to get a higher score on IELTS, have to deal with legal documents or just want to be more comfortable living in English, I can help.
