About Me

Hello everyone! Nice to virtually meet you! My name is Caroline and I am from a small island called Malta. It's in Europe, next to Italy. For the past 5 years I have been living in Brussels, Belgium.

- I am easy going by nature and have a passion for travel, experiencing different cultures and cuisines and most of all, I enjoy getting to know new people, which is why I love teaching English as a foreign language. I feel that this enriches the teaching experience shaping it into a relationship rather than a teacher-student approach, just like in real life. When meeting new people, especially from different countries, we are eager to find out about their culture, background, language, cuisine, daily lifestyle and this is brought to the class through conversation and speaking practice, class preparation from both the teacher and student side, comprehension activities and games, music to the student's tastes, reading about current happenings, keeping in mind the student's interests, language needs, existing language skills and newly learned target language.
- My approach therefore emphasizes on the student's interests, lifestyle and language needs making it a safe and comfortable space for learning and flourishing in their language knowledge, involving engaging activities and more student talk time rather than teacher talk time, while creating a memorable experience through association, enhancing language learning.
- I have 3 years' experience in teaching English and I am certified by Cambridge University to teach English to speakers of other languages. I teach young (from 6 years of age upwards and teenagers) and adult students, from beginners to advanced, in group and one-to-one classes, both online and face-to-face for a range of different needs related to reading, writing, listening and speaking skills from basic to business English. I have taught in several English language schools as well as independently.
