Understanding English: Comprehensive Literature Training
From 80.63 C$ /h
This class is for persons studying English Lit. at any level. I aim to teach from a place of understanding and so the lessons are structured around first grasping the internal logic of Academic English. As a result the focus will be on developing their analytical skills and critical knowledge through the use of core texts. Students will learn the art of creating an argument; how to construct, critique and justify their own thoughts; incorporate outside sources and also to recognise and satisfy a mark scheme.
I believe that knowledge creates understanding and understanding leads to enthusiasm. What i offer is not just instruction on the syllabus but an appreciation of English as an academic discipline. The aim is to spark the interest of students and so foster a relationship between them and their studies that centres around choice and rewards engagement and expression, leaving them with a sense of security and confidence as they move forward with their schooling.
Homework exercises and reading shall be assigned after each lesson. Progress reports available also.

About Me
Story lover and student of life. Longtime reluctant student turned full blown nerd.
I love books, film, music and conversation.
Teaching for me is about enjoyment and i think learning should be the same. Unfortunately, this was not my experience of school and i realise this is the same for a lot of people.
One teacher changed this for me. He showed me how to approach studying on my own terms and find the fun in it. This is what i want to do with my students.
I want to show them that the trick to success is not hours of tedious reading or mindless memory tasks but simply being interested in what you are studying and i believe it is the job of the teacher to create that interest in the first place.
I'm not going to force anyone to do anything, instead let me show them something that will make them want to do it.
